I live in Essex and work in Leamington Spa, I use the Kadett daily ;D A trip up on Monday and back down on Friday and backwards and forwards during the week so over 300 miles a week ;D All on 4 speeds, 1196cc and 155/50/13s ;D Valve seat recession is an issue, but I just keep adjusting the clearances every week or so ;D Other than being a bit noisy and being restricted by mechanical sympathy to 80mph, its great ;D And it makes me smile every time I get in it I do have a new van arriving this weekend though so that will end up in Daily driver role, at least until I get the new engine and box in the Kadett

Here's Mine. Its 6 years old and a 10 year old design so it must be borderline retro. The avenger, with its big boot and 4 doors is my practical car for trips to the tip ;D

Yep. Up until a few years back i believed i would ideally need a New daily (although i have never had one), mainly cos of my bad old chugger buys. The Sapph has been a great daily, although i prefer blasting about in the MR2 when its not running out of charge, breaking my legs, or rusting. Naturally the Sapph can rust too, but its not that bad. eventually (with injection of cash, I'll either have a newer work vehicle or a professionally maintained one regardless of cost. My true commute mobile at the mo (while its sunny) is a retro 90's barn find Raleigh MTB with rigid forks in magenta! given a commute make over with 26x1.6 Continental racer rubber. and hi rise XC bars. does the trick nicely, when i'm not being lazy!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

My daily driver is a 1974 Merc 280 ,a carburetor model, which some of you who have read my posts will remember as a car i got for free....24,000 Kms later it's still running perfectly,Not much in the way mods ( none really neccesary.... ) exept for W115 springs which keep it low,a set of merc alloys,a free flowing stainless exhaust for that KQQL merc rasp.and a spare set set of Sumitomo VR14 tires i had left over from my salt racer car. It doesn't ride this low anymore ,but pretty close... ;D it may soon be replaced by another merc I have had sitting idle in the shed for the last 4 years,a 1983 W126 380SEL ,which has almost every toy available including fanfare horns..... It was incredibly cheap when I bought it,these cars have no value here anymore. But I rebuilt the engine completely ,overhualed the sterring and knowone wants it.... It could end up looking like this...

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

My daily is the Rocco - racking up around 500 miles a week..which I look forward to every week (will do even more when the 16v is fitted).
Soon my daily will be a 1985 Porsche 944 LUX so I can take the Rocco off the road for the enigine swap.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

At the mo the one I use for shopping etc is the Sprinter, but alas, I will be selling it soon . Can't afford to fix it up or store it, and it's not going to make it as a daily in winter, so I feel she deserves better... like an enthousiastic owner with garage. So back to the Starlet, 15 years old now so I consider it to be borderline retro. I'm going to try to make it look a little better, some nice wheels, better interior, maybe lower it sometime in the future, when my girlfriend's not watching... Another 10 years and it'll be a classic!

I use any of the retro's I have whenever I feel like it. I only have retros so no choice - the missus has a modern J-box and it's blown up 2 engines, broken down with electrical gremlins and looks like a bag of sh*t. She's begging me to repair the Triumph MK1 2000auto for her as a daily - the radiator was punctured by something dropping off - you guessed it - a modern hack...... True though - you need to be prepared to get your hands dirty.....prior planning prevents p*ss poor performance n all that.... ;D

this has been my daily since may, doing a 25 mile round trip to work and everywhere else i go: although i don't know if it officially counts as retro as it's a '94.....but it's a mini, and its the same as most other mini's i've ever had from the 70's newer. it certainly feels retro compared to the mazda! I've had a string of bad luck recently, I was driving a '65 Oldsmobile as my daily until I blew the trans up (my fault, not the car's) then tried to get the '66 Buick back on the road and then thats been a disaster as well.
Normally I use old cars as daily drivers. These have included a 1966 Buick, 1962 Morris Minor Convertible, a 1968 Rover p5b coupe, a 1986 Chrysler Fifth Avenue (which I consider a modern car LOL), 1973 Cortina and 1965 Oldsmobile.
However with the pooh I've been in recently I've been using the '95 Celica which is my wife's car really. That replaced a Mini though... And most people would consider a 11 year old car to be old not modern now anyway...
Until this summer I've not really had much bother running old cars.

Its good to see so many of us using our old cars on a daily/regular basis. However even if people don't drive a car that is 'Retro' as such - it seems we all have taken carefull consideration when it has come to choosing a car we want to drive every day.

The uses our 17 year old Golf GTi as a daily, I make do with a Merc Vito van, but we have managed 10000 miles in 2.5months so anything retro would probably fall over
