Hey,
Wanting something rally like for roughly £3.5k, something fairly sharpish and rwd. Was thinking Dolly Sprint, anything else?

Bit slow the 1300 really for what I want. Dolly Sprint does 0-60 in 8.7, the 1300 does it in 13.5.

Nonstandard engine on that one too.......always makes insurance a bit of a chore. Not like they put summat worthwhile in, either ;D (nice 'light' flexible upgrade though!

The one I posted has a 1600 in it, but if I do get it I'm looking to put a zetec in it.

As in, the 1600 that they've replaced the 1300 with is a sensible replacement if you were using the car as a day-to-day thing Just more flexible and a little less strained for daily drives!

Does it have to be RWD? if not, then how about a Mini? You can get plenty of poke out of one on your budget

Almera GTI = ugly bird who turns out to be great in the sack = Win

dazmax, What sort of things would I be able to afford to do to a mini?

For £3.5k quite a lot - you could probably pick up a decent Mini for £1.5k leaving you £2k to buy roll cage, Mg metro engine, suspension etc etc

Lada Riva 1.6 or Skoda Estelle 130 with a 136 Favorit engine and Felicia Head. Rally exhaust system, twin carb manifold, and AVO shocks, Chassis Dynamics suspension kit, or for the Estelle HP Sporting replica 130LR group B shocks and spring. Add a set of Minilites and some Colway M&S and away you go. Suitably retro paint/vinyl job FTW.

Whats the BL Colgate? This one? Hmm Imp. I suppose I would have to swap the engine in it? What fits in one? Or forced induction the way to go?

Hmm Imp. I suppose I would have to swap the engine in it? What fits in one? Or forced induction the way to go? 998cc for the win. It'd embarrass plenty of stuff on a twisty B-Road and, as our Polo-driving friend said, there's a 1 litre class. You need to remember that regulations don't always permit heavy mods or engine swaps And buy a pre-built car...rally-prepping one yourself will bankrupt you. *n
