Hi all I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice?? I want to paint a part of bare metal (wire wheeled down) and was planning on using Halford primer? But people have talked about Zinc spray and Por15?? I plan on doing the underside of my car soon and the plan there was to rb down/repair any crusty parts and then spray the complete underneath wit stone chip. car is an old 1980 toyota corolla and is very tidy (hardly any rust) Advice please

if you have access to a compressor and gun then etch primer is a good primer. Failing that,a zinc primer would also benefit your car in the long run

What you need is some etch primer. Its the perfect primer for painting onto bare metal. I use stuff made by POR15 but i wouldnt get too hung up on which make it is. www.frost.co.uk has alot of stuff whihc will help you

Ok so what about doing the underside of the car?? I want a clean look to it, was gonna attack any rust and then apply stone chip paint.

Thats pretty much what i do.
I would highly recommend hammerite brand stone chip. (avalible from halfords for not alot of cash!) You can paint over it if you want it the same colour as your body but be sure to key it in with some scotchbrite first or the paint wont stick to it as its glossy.
