Made a massive error attempting to sell my 83 Regal on ebay, highest bidder (£620) has made no contact since the auction ended 3 days ago, ive emailed him 3 times with my details, the third email explaining that if they have no intention of buying the car to at least let me know. As you can imagine, I'm not very happy.
Has anyone else found themselves in similar circumstances? what did you do and how did it finally get resolved?
Thanks,
Pete

I've got an Ebay shop that i sell car parts on to fund my habit. I've normally got around 170 - 230 items on at a time and it drives me up the wall when people click 'buy it now' then don't pay for the item. I've been stitched up by people claiming that they have not received goods when i know full well they have as they decide to claim after 3 weeks with no contact in the time leading up to that( if that was me i'd be asking the question after week 1. I had a guy buy a part from germany thet other day then demanded that i took more detailed photo's and emailed them over to him before he would pay me. I wouldn't mind but all my listing say uk only and if people ask me to send stuff abroad i will but when someone demands something like that they get given the old 'JOG ON'. Now my 100% feedback is no more due to some knob head!
Rant over!

I'd send them another mail saying your standard routine is to give them 7 days. Then if no contact you've got the 2nd chance option ?

Has anyone else found themselves in similar circumstances? what did you do and how did it finally get resolved? About every second car I've ever sold on Ebay has been bought by some tosser who never intended buying. Excuses have ranged from 'sorry, bought another one I prefer', 'my son did it', 'I'll only come of you pay my rail ticket' and so on. Then there's the ones who simply don't get in contact. Three days without contact isn't that bad, but I think we all know that if we'd made a significant purchase that we cared about we'd be all over it once the auction closed. Leaving you hanging and getting increasingly desperate could be the start of discounts being requested. What can you do about it? Not much. Make all your contact with the 'buyer' through Ebay, observe the time limits and file a non paying bidder claim so at least you'll get your listing fees back. There's no point expecting Ebay to do anything about it, they won't and you'll just get incredibly frustrated as you read yet another cut 'n' paste response from some robot with an improbable name. Then block them as a bidder on your auctions and post the name up here so anyone else who is bothered can do the same.

I had a guy mess menabout recently on a car. Arranged two collection dates and never turned up. I left two messages eventually saying the car would be relisted if he didn't get in touch. 2 more days passed, I sold it again and used his deposit to buy an alternator!

ebay is all over the place at the min. i sold two cars recently, a subaru justy and a kangoo van. couldnt have been two more different experiences.
kangoo van was collected first. after letting me down 3 times over the period of a week on collection, two 'geezers' (read kn0bheads) came up from kent, moaned about it a lot, tried telling me the head gasket had gone, split a water hose pulling it about trying to find something wrong during their TWO HOUR inspection of it. luckily i had a spare. moaned about T+T being up in 2 months even though it was clearly stated in the auction. eventually they decided theyd take it, i ended up letting them have it for £150 less than theyd bid, but i really didnt care as theyd bid it up to 200 more than id had it advertised locally for, and i just wanted rid of them and it. they left me positive feedback next day, then two days after that i got a sh1tty email message and answerphone message saying theyd blown it up cos theyd be driving it round without replacing the hose- which id given them to fit. i then got a sh1tty answer phone message demanding 200 quid or a full refund, and saying that they were 'travellers' and were gunna drive up with a 'vanload of geezers' and cut me up if i didnt give them the money. nice people.
the justy couldnt have been more different. a guy travelled from aberdeen to colchester on the train which took him 12 hours, we went and taxed it for him so he could drive it back, he paid the full amount without haggling and barely even looked at the car, 3 days later i got positive feedback saying the car was wonderful and better than the one he'd previously bought for twice as much. couldnt have been more polite and eager to collect.
the sad fact of ebay is you now have to treat everyone on there as a ©unt untill proved otherwise. imo, if you havent heard form them in 3 days, youre not gunna.

Don't buy off ebay!. It seems to me shortly after buying from e bay your bank or paypal will screw up your account, or you will suffer a death in the family/ serious illness or injury to yourself. Or your car will become unable to perform in the same manor it has for years rendering you unable to collect your purchase, worst of all and most likely is the PC failure meaning you can't inform the seller of your predicament. I'm sure there are genuine cases but it seems e bay purchasers suffer far more than the rest when it comes to paying, posting or collecting goods. Mind you I've sold several things through this forum (some of them more than once) and yet most of them are still in my loft. Three days may not be an eternity but it is down right rude!.

3 Day's isn’t to bad but i would keep an eye on it and if necessary go through the correct procedures on eBay. like above Dez ^^ I've had great times buying and selling on the Bay and bad times. Sold am R33 with no problems, buyer came to collect, had a poke around, was happy got the cash. I have then had my old MK4 VW golf sold about 4 times! unfortunately you do get them.
Also if a company phone you up, trying to sell your car for you don't go anywhere near them. Its all a big hoax and they'll just run away with your money. They called me once and I nearly fell for it. Do a little research on the internet and it turns up some scary results.

Had it done to me twice last month Sold some speakers in door pods, had a guy very interested in them and he got outbid last few seconds....new buyer hasn't made any contact since (been a month now) stuck em back on and they sold to someone else. Sold an exhaust, same deal had someone interested in it, listing said UK only but still some dickhead from Greece bought it last few seconds, then wanted p&p prices for overseas shipping & as soon as he got them... surprise surprise the exhaust wont fit his car so he doesn't want it That ones still ongoing....really cheesed off!! Why eBay have stopped this negative feedback is beyond me...Really winds me up this as I pay as soon as Ive bought stuff, just wish other people would do the same.

I sold the Omega estate for a suspiciously high bid price to a guy who's eBay details said he was local. He didn't get in contact for nearly a week after end of auction and I had already started talking to the next high bidder to try sell the car to him when he phoned, said he'd been working nights and could he come pick the car up in 20 minutes. Paid cash, left really happy and left me good feedback.
I don't know how some people's minds work but I would just out of politeness drop an email to say "I'm working nights will contact you on X day to arrange collection"

If I'm bidding on something expensive like a car, I'm usually watching the auction when it ends so I'd be contacting the seller straight away, just seems strange others don't... but they have the same attitude to everything after!

As said, ebay is all over the place at the minute Some of it good, some not My latest problem was selling 3 minimoto/pitbikes in 2 separate sales, a chap bought both lots "for a mate" Lots of delays, after a week he told me his mate was broke and didn't want them. Open a dispute - leave it for 3 days - just before closing it leave feedback as "muppet" (or similar), then close dispute to get fees refunded. It's then too late for him to leave feedback as dispute has been closed. Then had to relist so they're in the way for at least another 2 weeks Other gems were a lass buying a 7 foot "collect only" commercial display stand then asking if I could help with transport to Ireland Odd that some have bought expensive bits then not left any feedback I used to be fairly understanding if folk had problems and could not collect. No more I will admit to buying cheap bits and not collecting straight away but I always make seller is ok to hold them until I'm in the area to collect. Communication is the key, if I know what's happening I'm a lot more tolerant.

I've had a few bad issues with ebay, but my 100% feedback is still there.
Luckily never had anyone buy something and then come and haggle me, would be well annoyed if they did.
I think they should make it compulsary that if you BIN, then you pay right away, i know some dealers can do it, but it should be across the board.
Ebay is a big load of poo, but it has such a big market, places like Ebid will never get off the ground...

I don't know how some people's minds work but I would just out of politeness drop an email to say "I'm working nights will contact you on X day to arrange collection" This. Not an ebay related gripe but was supposed to have an alarm installed last weekend. Took the day off, cleaned the junk out of the car and stripped some trim to make the guys life easier. Never showed. 3 unanswered phonecalls, 3 unanswered PM's, me very angry. Some people are just curse word tards. Common courtesy goes a long way!

I recently bought a stereo from ebay. I paypalled the morning after auction ended. I got an email seven days later. Oh, I'll post it out in the next few days. Another week later, I got the posting confirmation. then received it a day or 2 after that. I was annoyed at this. But tried to stay calm. Maybes he was on holiday or something. I try not to leave bad feedback. as that can be like crying after spilt milk.
