Hello, normally I would use jubilee clips or thick cable-ties to hold CV boots onto the metal drivers but the car I'm working on today does not have enough clearance between the driveshaft and the gearbox to allow a thick cable-tie or a jubilee clip to pass the gearbox. i.e. if I used a jubilee clip the driveshaft would spin around until the screw housing hit the gearbox casting. Then something would break and that would be it.
So I'm moving into the 21st century and I bought the little tool by Laser which you can use to tighten these clamps around the CV boots.
Trouble is, I've not got a clue how they work and I've ruined two clamps trying to work it out. I've bought another two new clamps but don't want to ruin those as well.
When they come out of the packet they are as pictured above. Logically it seems you would turn them inside out so the two little tabs point upwards. The instructions on the back of the packet say the tabs have to be folded down to complete the process.
I've tried a google search but it only tells me where I can buy the tool and does not actually help with using it.
