Ok
If I have a set of 13x8j wheels
And wanted to run 175/50/13 tyres, would they fit on a stretch across the rim??
Or would I have to use 185/55/13??
Need to have asmuch clearence as poss as the car is super low and not much space on the arches etc.
The car is a MK2 Escort (I know they don't fit on std arches before anyone says! ), but thats not the issue, just need to know if 175/50/3 can get on there.
I would prefer to stay away from 185/55/13 as the will reduce the clearence etc.
I have access to a bead blaster if that helps.
cheers

It was a real PITA getting 175's on my old 7j rims - so I'd place a bet at 8j's being even worse! (just watch the rims don't't get scuffed in the process)

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

175/50s on to 7" rims is a pain, 8`s might be a nightmare
You`d be better off getting 195/45/13 on an 8" rim

he had to put like 70psi in the rim to get the beads on, and has to run like 35psi in them to make sure they don't fall off the rim too.
said he really cant give it much stick because it will handle like a dog.

There shouldent be any incresed risk of them getting damaged, unless you like driving near kerbs that is!! Go for it , if worst comes to worst you just put inner tubes in them and they will go on easyer than a normal tyre would and wont pop off!

I would use 195/45 13s! Safer and nearly the same diameter.

I would use 195/45 13s! Safer and nearly the same diameter. Me too. I think you'd be compromising safety too much with 175's. Traction and handling could be a bit dodgy and the chances of getting a tyre failure or just a puncture would be increased. Probably too high a price to pay to look cool if it's a street driven car IMO. Okay for a show queen but I wouldn't want to hack down the motorway on that wheel tyre combo!
