I havent got very far yet, i keep either having work or its raining!! not getting much luck! Thank you very much for the offer that would've been awesome, unfortunately I live near Portsmouth would be a bit far

Timing mark on cam pulley lines up with indent on backplate Bottom marking, flywheel is marked for this visable through a hole in bell housing somewhere iirc These are the engines with belt driving one cam then chain driven cams one from the other. So the timing of the cams could be off, seeing as how it has been apart. Are the electrical issues sorted yet? I'm surprised that whoever fitted the head and timing belt didn't put it back together and fire it up.

turns out my friend who'd put the head back on cracked it when he was doing it up gutted!!! Took it to my usual garage today which i should've done in the first place, was doing my friend a favour as he's just had a child so cash work was handy...lesson learned

The caps that go over the cranks were in the wrong order, so when they got screwed in they cracked the head
