All I know is that I love the noise they make, all warbly. Pillarless doors for extra coolness. And if I were the type of person to be worried about the "image" of a car, I wouldn't be driving round in a Corsa ;D Early Legacys are GREAT. I love the sharp pointy styling, and they have to be one of only a handful of cars that look better for not being lowered - great stance on the rally ones

Sleeper types should get an import Type RA: Has close ratio box, intercooler with water spray system etc. Later ones have adjustable torque split plus on some of the early specs you get a hand-built engine which is stronger and more reliable. Aluminium body panels too I think it was. And no radio! Or spoiler.

What about a toyota glanza? Small pocket rocket with turbo cheep tax and quick as due to the fact it weighs the same as a fag box. Much more style than a scoob cause lot rarer no one will know what just blew them away. ;D ;D I've just read the tech specs on a Glanza,0-60 in approx 8 secs. can't really see that blowing a scooby away

Never really like Impreza's, everyone I know who has one has either stacked it or broken it. Although I guess retroness is subjective, IMO they arnt retro at all!
MAIN PROBLEMS ARE.....
Every nob drives one, lets face it its not like your driving something special! Expensive to fix They have chocolate pistons
The only real benifit is the sound of the engine Mmmmmmm nice and the cheapy prices (as long as nothing goes wrong).
Not as cool as a Sierra/Escort Cosworth and not as fast or hardcore as an Lancer Evo.

VERY BAD IMAGE PROBLEM ALERT!!! Round here they are driven almost exclusively by sh1t-thick thugs. Well within the benefit-fraudsters reach now, so will take a few years to get over that.... sad cos they are a h00t to drive. godda agree... really bad image round here too. what about an early lancer turbo - i wants one of them !

"your not driving something special" A family Saloon/wagon that does 60 in 6secs with 4wd handling and the like, no mate, there clearly shi te! "expensive to fix" Never had engine probs so i cant comment on this exactly, but i've had cambelts and stuff done and i've found them to be cheaper than say my Bro's Fiesta! I wouldn't say there retro, but calling them a bad car is just plain wrong! Rant Over

Adam Usually cos an "expert" has done a rather curse word job with your air/fuel maps when you're boosting. EJ's are pretty much bullet proof engines, which produce GREAT torque and "adequate" power. I've driven Subaru's, both legacy's and Imprezas, N/A and Turbo'd, they ROCK, handle rather well, are smooth with power delivery and just make you GRIN like mad when you drive em. I'd not want one over a 5 top Audi quattro, BUT I'd love a legacy Turbo estate as a daily hack, and I'm not a "J" person.

Also, the Boxer engine means you get fantastic handling

It does indeed! Low centre of gravity.
My dad had a big end fail on his WRX which meant a new engine. Luckily for him it was in warranty. If it happened now we'd go straight for a 2.5 conversion, buckets of torque!

the thing i don't like about imprezas is they look and feel like the worlds cheapest car when your sat in them. theres just nothing special about the interior/exterior at all. ill admit tho the engines go and sound like gods own farts ;D

No No they are not special, take a short drive anywhere in britain and chances are you will see atleast one. Just because it is fast and afforable does not make it special! Just trying to make the point that it is a performance car that are often (IN MY EXPERIENCE) not that reliable or cheap to fix. I am very sorry if I upset anyone........

I think its rally record speaks for itself. The old thing about drive it during the week, race it at the weekend couldn't be more true IMO Its a very special car indeed. There are plenty of knobs out there driving many of the cars we love, just 'cos its affordable doesn't mean everyone who owns one is a tw*t 'sides have you seen the prices of 22b's and P1's recently? They make a cossie look like the worlds biggest bargain!
