Well mother in law to be actually but curse word it, the car is still broken
Its a citroen ax spree sub 1 litre jobby (m-reg)
so I replaced the back box on the exhaust and obviously it was ok then as I ran it for 20 mins so the gun gum would harden/cure/whatever the technical term is.
anyways, the front bumper has been misaligned since she got it so I thought I'd have a bash at straightening it out and fixing the bumper mounts
reattached the plastic ones at the ends and knocked straight one of the mounts thats welded to the slam panel. then gave the back of the slam panel a tap to coax it outwards
and now it wont start???
I've looked to make sure i didnt break or disconnect anything whilst wielding the hammer but cant see anything
I also charged the battery (and tried a different battery just in case) and checked it has fuel in it
I'm tempted to say its a french p.o.s. is the reason it wont start, but I doubt that'll go down well, so anybody got any idea what's wrong with it?
She kind needs it for work tomorrow so I hope there's someone with some good ideas!!

try hitting the french p.o.s harder lol, sorry cant think of any reason other than you have knocked a sensor loose, try the lamba sensor on the exhaust??

I think you have a simple coincidence there.
I cannot see how what you where doing on the bodywork could stop it starting. Other than perhaps dislodging a sensor.
I wonder if maybe the exhaust is blocked but now thats clutching at straws.
So go about the problem as you would normally, checking spark fuel and compression. If its got all 3 it should run presuming its petrol.

Is there an impact switch? Might have popped during the mending... whats one of them? :/ I assume something to cut fuel in an accident? if so where can i find it and how do i reset it? |

Is there an impact switch? Might have popped during the mending... whats one of them? :/ Basic a crash sensor. It is designed so that if a vehicle is involved in an accident the engine is automatically shut off. One of these could well be set off but id be suprised if a vehicle of that age had one thats not to say that it doesn't of course |

not 100% here but it ususlly in the engine bay yellow top? on the inner wing or bulkhead ? square I think it is you probably tripped it with the banging, it may have a rubber cover just push it down to reset it  |

Rob is right, it's in the engine bay - I think on an AX it it on the nearside inner wing but I'm not 100% sure on that - it might be on the bulkhead instead.  Looks like this, may have a different coloured top (red and yellow are common). To reset, all you do is push the top, it will click. |

peugeot/citroen fuel pump cut off switch is about inch square with a rounded rubber top. either red or black top depending on year ;D it shoud be somewhere near the bulkhead in the engine bay, usually near a suspension tower. if its gone off, you should here a nice 'click' when you press the middle of it down  |

ps.. LOL at bl1300 (again....) behind the bumpers? try "between the bumpers" and at least you would be accurate! Anything with a fuel injected (petrol) engine has an inertia switch somewhere to reduce risk of fire following an accident. On a sierra they are in the boot, in the centre of the wheel well, which caused a lot of breakdown call outs "HI, I got a puncture, changed the wheel and now the car won't start?  " |

Did you disconnect the battery before you started welding?
You might have fried something electrical

Ok, I've looked, and it's not where it's supposed to be! I searched for pics of similar engines and can identify it on them, but it's not there on this one... :/ what would it be wired to so I can try and trace it's location? I assume the fuel pump but that's an in tank jobbie on these so I assume there must be something on the other end that would be easier to trace it from?

Ok so I've decided maybe it doesnt have one and adopting traditional diagnosis methods- no obvious spark (bearing in mind i'm looking at it in the daylight thru a windscreeen) I'm assuming if i had an inertia switch I'd still get a spark? :/

I don't recall the AX 1l having the fuel cut of it was a later Saxo and 106 thing mainly.
I'd check the fuel relay should be under the ecu iirc.
Its is fuel injected version isnt it?
