What an awesome website. Does make me feel a bit sad about some of the beasts. Also makes me want to move to america and tool around in one of those beasts!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I've seen that website before. The rotting Superbirds are incredible. Maybe now that muscle cars have hit the big time in the auctions some will get rescued?

The Yanks are getting very into there Muscle Cars and the prices are going MENTAL... Was over in Cali a few weeks ago, and visited a Hot Rod Dealership in Dublin City... All the Muscle cars were about $45k to $100K and even with a favourable exchange rate that's still alot of moolah... Still though, I fell in love when I was there... and the missus only wanted the dearest car in the place... 58 Corvette.. $125k

Kool, i'll take that Camaro! Really liking big yanks lately. Think i'd like to rescue a really rare and desireable piece of americana, restore the mechanicals and leave the body completely ratty, then cruise the nads off it How awesome would that be......

Don't know if it will work on your 'machine' but heres what I do: hold mouse over picture and in left hand corner a grey box with 4 symbols will apear, one of which is a 'disk' icon (which is infact a save comand) right click and it will save into your file. Hope it works

Oh my look at all the dead SUPERBIRD's !!! Some of the stories are amazing. Also I note alot of the articles explain they were discovered in late 80's (did Superbirds fall out of favour in late 80'S / when 20 year old?), and the author of the article kept an eye on them for the past 10-15 years; as most never moved in that period! Top find! Superbirds and Daytonas were never in favour Actually. When new it was not unusual to see them sitting in dealerships unsold for up to 3-4years. As NASCAR was really a Southern thing, the concept was lost on the rest of the USA so sales were pathetic.Plus, considering there were very very few sold it's a wonder those cars in the pics stayed where they were as MOPAR enthusiasts managed to pick most of them up.Today Hemi cars of any description fetch mad money,$100,000 US starting price. There two in OZ ,a Daytona and a Superbird and have been in the same ownership for ever. In the early 70's I saw the Ex Buddy Baker Daytona when it was shipped to New Zealand on a show tour...what a Weapon!!!,Rob Cambell, the publisher of our local Hot Rod magazine took it for a drive around Pukekohe Racetrack!!!!.It actually drove very well and as Rob was once a pretty good driver he did manage some respectable times until the promoter got a bit annoyed at all the spectators getting a free look. Read through this site at the dramas involved in just finding a project... www.sandysgarage.com/current.html

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

^ Hey thanks for that, didn’t realise Superbirds were a mainly ‘southern’ /deep south thing. I always think of American motorists being ALL muscle car junkies. The Good ‘olde boy / Redneck image etc. Which is why I’m always confused at films like The Sad ‘n’ The Spurious (Fast & Furious) …as if our American brethren are going to bother with weedy J stuff with small/low cc engines. To me a film like ‘American Graffiti’ is how I imagine an American ‘Cruise’ scene! “Grab your Gun and take the strain, for the South … …it’s gona rise again!”
