the one with the yellow scre is the smoke screw wind in more diesle to be injected out for less. remeber high egt if you wind it to far.
on the top of the pump under a cap which you need to prise out, is the another scre witch controls the diaphram pressure wind it in and boost will cut in sooner.
if you wanna go further remove the top four screws mark the diaphram and remove it to inside you ll see a star wheel reotate it clockwise 1/4 of a turn or to 1/2. then also turnt he diaphram when you re insert it about the same.
loads of info if you search tuning 200tdi and 300tdi

hi
the car is real smokey under driving so was thinking of backing it out a fraction to try and cut the fuel being chucked in,
the previous owner also turned the screw under the cap as well on the diaphram so i will return that to the previous setting to see how that makes it all feel
cheers for all you help

1) Max fuel screw - If car is smoking under pretty much all conditions particularly off boost back this off in small increments. It is quite sensitive as in 1/4 turn has quite a big effect. You do this by loosening the 13mm nut and screwing out the screw. You don't need to remove the tamper proof collar for less fuel. If you want more knock the collar off with a hammer and screwdriver its only held on with a tiny spot weld. You can then add lots of fuel 2) Remove this lid known as the LDA, inside there is a diaphragm, remove this carefully as it is connected to a pin. On the bottom of this pin you will see a taper. Another pin rides on this taper, the pin is pushed down under boost pressure. If you look at the pin you pulled out you will see it is eccentric as in one side is mode heavily tapered than the other. Look into the hole and you will see the small pin that rides against it. Make sure the most tapered part is facing the throttle spindle this will ensure you get more fuel under boost but not off boost which is how you can limit off boost smoke 3) Screw this "stop screw" out all the way as it will allow more fuel under full throttle and give you a few more revs to play with also. 4) Idle screw. If adjusting screw number 1 to have less fuel you will most likely need to adjust screw number 4 in to raise idle slightly if adding more fuel you need to back number 4 off so idle can be returned to normal. This just has a plastic cover you can easily knock off. 5) Under here is one of the worst screws to adjust on a bosche pump. It sets the "base setting" of the pin we played with on step 2 so makes the pin ride further up the taper from the off. I don't understand any point for ever moving this screw as the proper adjustment can be done with screw 1. thats a simple breakdown of bosch pump adjustments. I can go into A LOT more detail as ive played with far too many of these pumps in far too many applications but ive had lots of good results including a 160hp 1.6GTD golf that revved to 7000rpm.

Awesome, I'll be fitting one of these 1.6td lumps into my Scirocco this weekend, so this will be massively useful getting it set up how I want it. Great info.

yeah number 4 screw is the one with the red cap. Ideally don't mess around with the verticle one at the back its very easy to unscrew too far and pop the threads off! If anybody needs any more infor feel free to ask and i'll post up here so everybody gets info
