I've been asked to run a question by you lot.
How would you feel about a 2 day show at a motor racing circuit?
First day is show and activities day, including half track long sprint, autotest or mini rally stage as well as drifting demos, Group B car displays and things like that. Evenings entertainment would be large social area with screens playing petrolhead stuff like climb dance, and berg cup DVD.
Second day would be show and classic motorracing, so a full days worth of circuit racing, as well as having the car show area, and autotest/rally thingie (whatever they organise) available.
Sounds good? bad? indifferent?
I'll pass on all thoughts.

Sounds interesting. Things to watch, things to do and some social beer scoffing. What more could you want?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

So long as its not in the deep sarf and £150 a ticket. Do it at Donnington and make it affordable and I'm there. Also need to have B&B / Travelodge near by for those old and crumbly of us who don't rough it or drink etc...

The concept sounds really interesting and I think considering the varied array of disciplines and vehicles there would be something for everyone with a passing interest in racing. I guess the cost of hiring a venue for the weekend would have to be passed onto the punters but whilst people moan, they are still prepared to pay. As an example, GTI International was £17 per day at Brunters this year. Yes people whinged but the car park was packed and the show had plenty of visitors.
One key point for a two day event is accomodation. Most people are more than happy to camp as long as its secure and close enough to stagger back to the tent after being in the sun all day.

Sounds like a great weekend! I guess the price is a big factor, how much would such a jaunt cost?

BTW as 'bike racing next door neighbour mentioned this week... To hire Donnington for a days race meet is £36,000! PLUS cost of marshalls etc!
Thirty six thousand!
Sprint track might be better? (eg Curborough, although probably a bit small)

Yep definately be up for that, Shows don't really do it for me, with CARS being the only one I "Do" I build my cars predominatly to drive, not polish so a Car show needs to have "Auidience participation" if you see what I mean..... don't want to spend 2 days watching others race/rally/sprint/drag, but being able to watch and then do really does appeal..... Like a Multi discipline Track day with Festival/social aspect too ;D Sure the general mood is Ripe for it as well "Build it and they will come" ;D

Sounds great. But my opinion might not count, since anything over £20 a head is out of my price range! So I'd need plenty of warning to save up for it! ;D

i'd love to do that and would quite happily do some drifting there. infact if you sorted anything , i could easily assemble the elite team of retro car drifters...

What about two cars style shows in the year but hold one at avon park?
Brings them to two different areas and gives a more relaxed atmosphere at avon i alway's find.
Agree the idea of a big track show is very good but liability insurances and the like ar going to be astronomical.
I will be wherever you decide either way. ;D

I think it's a great idea but cost could be a killer. Mayhaps a Sprint/Hillclimb venue would prove worthy?
