saw one of these in the '90's styling thread, then remembered my dad had one when i was about 10 (beige and brown with a beige plastic dash and a small oak tree growing in some dirt lodged where the door hinges go) anyways, know nothing about them except they did a turbo one with a 5 turbo engine in (i think, correct me if I'm wrong) any reason why they weren't anywhere near as popular? are they any good? thinking of finding one for my next project!!! any info/inspiration welcome, heres what ive found with a quick google... I love R11s. Had a few and would really like another, albeit a good, sorted one this time... They are a decent and very underrated car. Comfy, don't tend to rot too badly and are fairly straightforward. 11 Turbo was basically a big 5 GT Turbo, same engine etc. 1.7 was also pleasingly quick. They were pretty popular when current but never as popular as the equivalent Escorts etc over here. Still loads about in France and parts are still easy enough to find. Have a few pictures from my 'bucket...

Same, I havent seen one for years. But looking at those ones you posted, they can look brilliant when modified.

I moved on one of these last summer - boggo spec, white, petrol engine with auto box. So bland I never even thought of taking photos of it. Was competant enough on the road and despite a flat battery, started and ran fine after a years inactivity in a garage.

My Dad had a metallic green one in the early 90s. Doesn't really answer your question but I used to think the colour was really cool and I never remember it breaking down

There may be next to none in Britain but in Spain and Portugal they are still about in a surprising amount of numbers, or at least when I went there a week ago.

Tried to buy my neighbours one when I first got my licence. It was a proper piece and TBH at 17 I'd have finished it off quick smart. Thankfully someone else got in there first.

Electronic model had digi dash 9/11 Turbos rather rare due to boring looks- even with alloys/spoilers and buyers seduced by cheeky 5GT Turbo

my dad owned an 11 gtl 1.4 from new and hes always said it was one of the most reliable cars he ever owned. I learnt to drive in it, so have found memorys of them! sadly my dads 11 met its end after it was sold to my best mate as his first car, then someone stole it and rolled it on a bend (no suprises there, as its one of the most softly sprung cars ive ever driven. the body roll was enough to induce sea-sickness!!!)
