Well recently my mate has been looking for a little chea car. When we were having a wander through a little place that sells cars last Monday night ther was a nissan sunny like this: And I instantly wanted it. It looks tidyish with a bit of grot on the front wing and a mahoosive dent in the roof. It looks as if some kids have jumped n the roof. It hasn't pulled the roof out of line with the doors or anything. I was thinking i could probably just lie on the back seat and push it out with my feet. What do people think?? Is the structural ridgidity of the car affected? Will I be alright just pushing the dent out? Do you think its worth it? I haven't got a price for the car yet as I need to go when the place is open. I'm just picturing it slammed on Konig Rewinds, or wantanabe's

Still not working for me! Anyway, I doubt the dented roof is an issue. Just pop it out. Chances are you could be left with some creasing though. Depends how bad it is. You shouldn't have much problem finding anew wing for a B11, if it needs one.

Drill a small hole on the C-pillar and fit a grease nipple. Then use a grease gun to fill the entire interior of the car with Castrol LM. You may have to set the heater to 'fresh air' in order to avoid an airlock inside the car. When the interior is completey full, carry on pumping the grease gun and the hydraulic pressure in the interior will pop the dent out of the roof. Problem solved.

LMAO. I'll try that Mr_B. Well I might pop to the garage on Saturday see how much he wants. Then just a case of trying to hide it from the parents while fixing it up!

Is there any way to do it where it might not crease as badly?

what about getting a big roller of some sort and gradually rolling it out? what ever you use you need to spread the pressure to get an even lift

Theres three ways to do this, (i) cut the roof out and fit a sunroof, (ii) fill it expensive bondo... (iii) remove, very carefully, the hoodling. get a large peice of 3/4" plywood roughly the same size as the depression in the roof. using a hydruallic jack mounted on 2x4's and peice of 2x4 on the jack supporting the plywood against the dent, get an assistant to gently pump up the jack.as the dent comes up you will see sharp edges around the edge. These are Stretches and must be shrunk down . Keeping the pressure on the plywood DON'T try and straighten out the dish ,BUT gently use either a shrinking hammer or a oxytorch method ,work the those sharp edge dents down flat. The dish should start to come back into almost the right shape .It takes about 2 hours to do this on most roofs. This is an example of what you have to deal with sometimes... the green Merc under neath is a 300SE 'lang' finny ,one of only 14 made so the roof had to fixed, and has been.No pics unfortunately but it's comming along very nicely.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

Unfortunatly I haven't got the skill required to do the third option and to fill the dent i'd need a world supply of "filler" Its quite a large dent and its at the back.

When 'bopping' dents out apart from using a piece of wood to 'bop' it out I find getting someone to hold a piece of wood the other side helps it from creasing/stretching. Why this works I have NO idea but sometime it does.!?

I had the roof of my Mini stoved in by some little scrotes jumping off a garage and onto the roof As I was a touch miffed at the time I just thumped the dents out from underneath which sprang them back into shape pretty well but you could still see approx 10 shallow dents which I wasn`t happy with. So my mates Dad who is a semi-retired panel beater spent gawd knows how long beating them out - IIRC he used a special hammer to beat round the dents and slowly pulled them out (without even removing the headlining) I have to say he did a spot on job and you`d never know now what a state it was in.

Wonder how noticeable it would be if i just popped it out. One way to find out BTW, the other cheap option I thought of with mine was to pop the dents out and then stick a vinyl roof on it ..
