Ok, I'm dragging my LWB T4 about 1/2 mile shortly, no problems there. However, once I get it here, I need to get it up my drive. It's damn heavy, there will be 4 lads, but can I use the pole to push it with the Sharan?
Truthfully, it doesn't sound like a good idea, but I do need some extra ooommmppphhh.

Could work, if you do, film it! You could be the next YouTube sensation*
*If it goes badly that it!
But I prob wouldn't try it. Could you not fashion a pulley system?

I managed to bend an ex RAC A frame when i had to stop quick in a Range Rover while towing another Range Rover, I would suggest a van may well bend a towing pole quite easy.
I'd probably still attempt it, get the lads all pushing and just add some extra oomph, be ready to stop damn quick though, I have pushed stuff with just tyres between vehicles a few times, kind of depends how much effort you think your gonna have to put in.

depends on how good your tow pole is and how strong the attachement points are, I've got an ex recovery one, I pushed a fully laden lwb hightop transit up a steep ramp into a workshop required pretty much full beans on my 4.6 Rangie to do it, the poles fine, was connected onto my tow ball and straight onto his tow hitch nice and strong...

Give it a go, I would. Just take it steady and if it doesn't feel right when you start, stop.

Well, it's here. We had enough manpower to get it up in the end, however, when we came to move the bus, it was stuck in gear after I'd towed it here....it's an automaticpieceofshite. I used the pole to get some movement, and it decided to bend the safety clip and pop off the Sharan, no harm done. After 10 mins, we rocked the bus enough to free the locked box, and it is now sat where I wanted it. Ta much

Reminds me of recovering a Jeep (CJ3) in Spain with my SWB Land Rover. The Jeep hadn't moved for years and no brakes. I towed it up a dirt track from the barn where it was stored over a hill and when it came to go downhill back to the house (where I'd got my transporter) the positions were changed so Jeep in front. Tow rope was then attached to front of Land Rover and rear of Jeep so I could act as brake on the way down. This was fine for a few hundred yards until the Jeep went into a dip on the dirt track and then accelerated with gravity on exit so it snapped the rope. I then had to crash the Land Rover though a fence and down a field to try and get infront of the runaway Jeep. Luckilly my mate who was steering managed to crash it into gear and together with the transmission brake slowed it down to a snails pace. Heart stopping. One of many "adventures" I used to have with dozens of old vehicles in Europe over around a 10 year period. Paul H
