I have to go slightly sensible due to an impending mini-Pandamonium due to join the family early next year. The Car; Lada Riva 1500E 1996 MOT due Oct 11 (Will MOT if right deal is offered) Tax due Sept 11 - but will tax it as it is my daily. The Spec; 90hp 950kg RWD The Modifications Brand new weber carb fitted Suspension lowered to lowest extreme. De-catted, and mostly straight through exhaust. Retro steering wheel Radio cassette 8-ball gear knob Moondiscs The running repairs; Brand new front wings fitted and resprayed Recon front panel fitted and resprayed. Whole body mopped and polished. Recon steering box fitted New track rod ends Usual service items. Ultra bright headlight bulbs Bad points Could do with a ball joint on the centre steering arm (will try to obtain) Needs panhard rod on rear (Will be fitted this weekend) It is a Lada so has so many little silly foibles that you forget stuff. It is amazingly reliable, great fun to drive and gets 30-40 mpg. I am looking for another car, so will listen to swap and trade offers. Advertised on for sale board @ £995, but realize this is optimistic. Will add more pics once my internet is sorted properly. Contact me on O7943 8227O9 Regards, Alan

I love this, yet I have never bothered looking at a Lada....
I have 2 kids, trust me, your car is as practical as my Mondeo if not a little small, but I would keep the Lada if you like it and see how you get on after sprog has sprung... Just my 2 cents.
I would offer a Mondeo, 2.0 petrol so probably not cheap enough to run for you, but hey ho!

I know I think with our logic when it comes to sensible, but I still can't see what isn't sensible about a bombproof 4 door saloon that does 40 to the gallon? What are you after as a swap?

I'd say re-catting it and unlowering it a bit would make it eminently sensible. Keep it, you know you want to!

By 'sensible' I mean I'd need a car with power steering that my wife could drive if need be.

I like it a lot. How sensible a car are you looking for? Does a diesel estate (Citroen ZX) float your boat in any way? (everything has potential - you've certainly proved that! )

Probably not what youre after, but how about a mk2 ibiza? Mot til may next year, 6 months tax just gone on. 1.4, power steering, central locking, just had oil and filter done yesterday. Couple of dinks and scratches and chips in windscreen, but really perfect for a daily.
Plus some pennies your way.
I'm looking for some UNpractical for when my new sprog sprouts in December!
