Has anyone here got one of these? I've just been given a Tomos A3 MS, looks like it was pulled out of a ditch. Doesn't run, so far i've found a number of reasons why. All fuel lines are clogged up with gunk, the plug cap is shattered, the plug itself almost fell apart when i took it out and the points have rusted solid. But when i kick it over all the lights come on, i've checked them all and everything works so there is a glimmer of hope!

It's been sitting under a cover for the last 3 months. It's a 1984 Cab Gti, found it on the Bay a while back, bit of crash damage but nothing too serious, but my 1962 Mercury Monterey arrives at Tilbury next week so the Golf may get tucked away again while i'm sorting that one out

Sweet! I did see these but wasn't sure if they were for the A35 or not, thanks!
I've had a good look to see what others have done with theirs, there seems to be a bit of a pattern forming so will try and do something a little bit different.
Your Puch looks awesome by the way !

Right, Tomos guru's required! Been off the boil for about a year now and have suddenly found myself with a few days spare so i've decided to spend some time on this heap of junk! Since starting the thread i cleaned it up, took off all the panels, guards, lights, wiring etc, put a new throttle cable in, cleaned the fuel lines, new petcock, took carb off and cleaned out all the residue and freed up the banjo and the jet. It fires up quite nicely now but doesn't hold onto tickover and when i turn the throttle it revs up then bogges down again. Off the stand it doesn't even move and just stalls. Judging by the shape it was in when i got it i'm preparing myself for a clutch overhaul as well. But first off, the bogging. I think i've been through and checked everything except the exhaust. I even tried spraying carb cleaner around the engine to see if it had any air leaks and everything seemed to be ok. Plug looks fine and the points are new. So I can only assume the carb may still be dirty. It's an Encarwi carb. Proper rubbish. Ideally i'd like to put a Dellorto on it but not sure if it's a straight swap or not. There's one on the bay at the moment, but before i commit i need to get some advice from any Tomos freaks on here. I know you're out there!! Also might be interested in a parts bike if anyone's got anything??

Sounds like the carb needs cleaned again, I'd soak the jets for a week in carb cleaner or buy new ones and needle. In line fuel filter. Also high octane fuel may help a little.

I'd say strip the carb down and clean everything thoroughly, also flush the tank out....Chances are it's full of the same crud that was in the lines and carb already. I wouldn't have thought a carb rebuild kit would be expensive for one of these so might be worth while rebuilding it with new needle, jet & gaskets. Are you getting a nice fat blue spark when kicking over? Constant flow of fuel when the petcock is open?
