Sorry if this sort of question has been posted before (and sorry for yet another post about J-Tin ). What is it with this sort of thing in Japan Nissan Micra made to look like a Austin/Morris 1100/1300/VP? I've seen others such as Citreon 'H' Van atempts Are they made by the manufacturer or by conversion firms? When were they made? Is there a market out there for 'em? All answers greatly received

I recognise those scans! IMO it's just a way of owning something interesting-looking without the oil leaks, rust etc and with modern standards of reliability, decent heating/ventilation and so on. Most are by independent makers I think, though some more timid versions are done by the manufacturers.

Good question, they are bizzare! couldn't see me in one but could easily imagine a quirky J chap or chick enjoying one.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Mitsuoka are responsible for a lot of them, the Micra-based ones and things

"It delivers the feeling of being stoked to you as the Santa Claus does." They're pretty crazy creations! I like that though - the cars may not be totally to my taste but carving a niche like that needs respek.

I see what you mean, hmm unless they import them, that would defeat the object a bit though. strange

They import the taxis, Mitsuoka are the Japanese importer for them. Dunno what they use them for.
