yo! had a quick look over this 104 today, i was thinking it would be ropey and ripe for spring cutting and big wheels. but looking over it its almost mint!!! i don't believe it would be right do play about with this too much. it has only 10k miles, and the interior is like new. no joke! the only rust i could find was a tiny amount on the edge of the bonnet and a small amount on the sill that i have circled. it has some tax and mot till january. what should i be expecting this to reach if i was to put on ebay or sell to someone who would want one of these? as to be honest, its retro but its not really what I'm after and its way too good to modify or hack about in. i could do a quick sell on and buy something i really want if its going to make some profit. any ideas anyone. also some info on the model, 104 zl, would be appreciated! btw its like new! cheers! pics:- ![](http://img348.imageshack.us/img348/1695/104xe7.jpg) ![](http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/8472/1041jr6.jpg) ![](http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6230/1042dx1.jpg) ![](http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2760/1043fx9.jpg) ![](http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/5315/1044bf0.jpg) it looks like the sort of thing that an old boy has had from new, kept in a garage and used once in a blue moon.

Our man 104ZS is gonna SPEND HIS WAD when he sees that, it is freakin awesome! 10,000 miles!!! Amazing. Obviously you must buy it at once.
I think it will be extremely difficult to give you a decent guide price for it on Ebay, but a really shonky one sold on there a week or so ago for £250. I reckon it'd make £750 or so? total stab in the dark like.

id rather keep that under my hat for the moment. need an unbiased idea of how much it would sell for.
but put it this way, its cheap enough for me to want to buy it anyway even if i don't sell it on.

There were only 8 ZL models left on the road according to DVLA at the end of 2004 when I last got figures from them. Needless to say I'm sure thats less now. The average Samba price is £250 at the same age if MOTd. Please don't hack it around, its getting to rare now for RHD models would be a real waste, and its the 954cc engine like mine so no ball or fire. Id buy it!!

hell have we Retro Rides bidding auction going on!? In actually thinking of Peugeot 104 / Talbot Samba / Citroen LN & LNA - 35 year gathering next October for mark the launch at the Paris Motor Show in 1972 so need to find as many owners of this cool little motors !
OK in answer really to checking it over - look for ROT !
Take a trolly jack along and jack the car up under the front jacking points, any rot will soon show as the jack will disapear in to the hollow section its make from (stupid design). Normally expect welding around this part of the floor so lift the carpets both sides.
They rot well on the inner wings, most 104s don't have original wings on the outer masking the condition of the inners.
They rot well in the boot around floor and strut mountings, not seen one that has'nt. Also the fuel tank mounting bracket on the drivers side is a rot spot.
There should be a spare wheel sat on top the engine, lift it out and check all the pipework and leaks are bad news on this cooling system.
If you can remove the plastic access panel to the bulkhead, and check for terminal rot inside.
The engine should start in this hot weather without choke or throttle but they all need a bit of cranking to get fuel up on the mechanical engine driven pump. It should instantly tick over, if its lumpy or needs reving expect the dizzy to need setting up correctly, using genuine Peugeot or Citroen parts as aftermarket ones are knaff for this model. When the engine is hot expect the electric fan to cut in and out, if it doesnt its death.
If it has electronic ignition you'll see the sensor on the flywheel straight as you look down.
It should drive and shift gear smoothly, make sure there is 10/40 in the sump or it makes things difficult, also lack of oil means shifting gears are crunchy.

Go and get it! As for this 'leave it alone' malarkey...? Well I say get modifying! As long as you're not planning to chop the roof off or dally with the bulkhead etc, then anything you do can be un-done. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

other thoughts is if the steering wheel is off centre doesnt mean its had a crunch, the 104 series often can only be adjusted for tracking on one side. Its real fiddly to get right so most kwack fits just get one wheel in line then wind the other to the right place.
Use valvemaster £8.49 in Halfrauds or Millers VSP, this engine will low miles will run unleaded without adjustment but doesnt have hardened seats as far as I know. I always put it in my 104 and it runs sweet, will hold 75-80 on the motorway no problem, but the 954 doesnt have much oomph left after that.

If you buy it and are stuck, i'll be able to get you one over here no probs.
