Well, I had cause to drive to the middle of England last weekend I drove through the night through Wales both there and back. The mountains are fantastic to drive over, utterly stunning. Between Holyhead and Bangor I found this road: Taken about 6AM On the way back, stopped for a short time in some unpronounceable Welsh village. Around 9.30PM And up and down the Snowdonia region of mountains, I stopped by a lake that almost touched the road. Impossible to see at night, but I knew it was there from seeing it before when going the opposite way. I was looking forward to getting pics there all weekend. Took a couple, but one just came out... well, I like it... Taken about 11PM.

did you take the aberystwyth mountain roads alongside the dams. they are amazing in the winter and the roads are pretty damn fun as well ;D last time we went we had to go over a rickety bridge just big enough for the car (didnt look like it would take the weight of the car though lol ) and the road seemed to disappear in a vertical drop. But was amazing to see. Oh and there just happened to be a rally up there as well lots of novas and mk2 'scorts.

If you detour through Llanberis and take the mountain pass to Capel Curig, it's well worth the extra time, especially in clear weather - you can pick up the A5 again near Betws-Y-Coed. Just don't attempt it in anything too big

Thanks for putting us on the map, the A55 from Holyhead is a nice road, however the A5 you used is a bloody blast, the down hill straight you show is Mona past the airfield. Oh remember that Anglesey has it's own racing circuit. Thanks

FAIL ;D I'm out to Anglesey this weekend for Time Attack and Modified Live at the circuit, if you're local come along. Should be some good racing.

Can I do that Capel Curig bit next year in my Skoda Rapid? Mr TOmcat, if you say so! It was completely covered in mist so I didn't know what was there, all I know is it was the road to a garden/butterfly centre and the A55 was right next to it.

The Capel Curig road is a blast! The great thing about living on Anglesey is the great roads on the island and around Snowdonia. I can be seen most days driving around in one of my mk1 astras. As for the race course, I live about 6 miles away and most cars pass by my house so if I see anything interesting going past then I know it is probably going to the circuit so I pop along to see what's going on!

At the circuit sounds good to me. MK1 Astra give a blue Rover 75 estate a flash and see if you get a wave back, if so probably me if its enthusiastic.

Aren't you evoman's mate, with the red Volvo 360?
Nice pics, I've got a hankering for a welsh drive sometimes. The beacons are nice enough, and that's only over the bridge.

RR welsh meet sounds good to me but I've just sorned the mk1 above for the next stage of modifications. I've currently driving my mk1 estate as my daily since I'm enjoying more than my modern. Hi CarlB I tried to look you up on the celica site but had no luck. Hi Mr Tom I've been meaning to put a post up to try and arrange a local meet for retro drivers around North west Wales because we always have to travel to see retro shows and there is quiet a few retro's on the road around here.
