That is a great looking viva. I think that one should be left alone. Sell it to a viva owners club member, who would treasure it for what it is. As others have said, buy a one that is in a poor state and chop as you feel, but this one is far too good to modify. Please have a rethink about your plans for this car.

nothing is wrong with the 200sx its also mint with only 60,000 on it from new, but there are alot of them still floating about, and I like to be different, as for the viva its took me 2 years to find one as clean as this, I no its a very rare model but whats the point of it sitting in my shed and taking it to a couple of shows a year, when I can change the engine in it and use it alot more and a lot more people will see it. I do like to see rare mint cars left along thats why I'm selling this one and not chopping it about. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130565512215 both this and the viva came from the vauxhall museum in luton, as for cutting it about the only part of the viva I will need to cut is where the gear stick will come through, so if I ever did want to change it back it wouldnt be a big problem

Very strange for so much caution from members on here. Not that you need my permission (or anoyone's) because you own the car, the way I see it, old cars are not unlike old buildings, bear with me....... Old buildings that evolve, so that they are kept relevant and in line with the way people live, are more likely to provide enjoyment, and be used and maintained. Old buildings, because they are listed or otherwise, that are left as a timepiece from the past, end up becoming a relic, and of no use to anyone. A Grade 1 listed building, like a rare classic, should be preserved as much as possible, but your typical Grade 2 listed building, like a retro saloon, or mass produced car, needs to evolve. The trick is knowing how to keep the balance so the original character remains. Great project - hope you create a build thread on here.

That Viva's lovely, whatever you choose to do with it. It's your car - personally I'd love it either way, underpowered and standard or ridiculously fast - sleepered with the 200sx engine would be rad.
I've seen that shoveit on Evilbay too, lot of money but a lot of red and looks mint...

Do it! I'm a bit sad for the 200 as I'd have loved that! But you're right, to make the viva epic... It's what it needs!!

Oh and change the oil spray bars on the sr20det before you run it, my 200sx engine died at 70k from poor servicing blocking the spraybars and letting the cams run dry, really not worth the risk for cheap parts.
Check apexperformance for good price 200sx parts...

Was looking at an HB the other day for myself - v.decent nick 1159, been off the road a few years, tidy enough to modify but not too tidy that it'd be a shame - he wants a grand for it - why not buy it and mod that, but keep yours as well, then you can have the best of both worlds??

wow. That car is fantastic as it is. I love modified cars and have chopped about my hb for sure but my car had a completely stuffed engine and was just a lowly deluxe model. But yours- wow. Please leave it as is and find another. That is cherished history sitting there. But as said before, its your car now, do what you like. Please drive it a bit first- they are fun to drive even with standard engines. and bloody cheap too.

Usual moaners that if the car came up for sale for someone to `save` it they`d sit there in they`re jumpers mummy had knitted them moaning it was the wrong colour or there was too much thread showing on a bolt. Viva2300,i think you need to get a grip, and a reality check.Even if you throw aload of money at a viva engine its still going to be an underpowered wheezing boat anchor.Have you driven anything with a modern engine in? Good on fuel, powerful, smooth and reliable.Nothing a viva engines ever going to be.

omg
change the engine and make a good car great thats what I'm planning to do with mine
i've got a 2.3 in mine and its ok for an old car but a decent modern engine that goes like stink will be more fun and you will use it more
i did about 500 miles going to the gathering the other week and the 2.3 coped fine but 4000rpm at 70 about 3 tanks of fuel and 4 litres of oil and I'm now looking for a gearbox to go behind the redtop i've got lol
