Been out driving a bit today, photographing, filming and thinking about my 1500. It might be up for sale tomorrow, or not due to several reasons, but "MEH!" that's besides the point However, here are a few snippets from the day (mostly random stuff!) ;D Up a hill... Strolling out for a drive... Revving it up a bit.... And a brief flyby. Cameralady cut the film before I'd finished burbling away though, which is a shame as that was what that one was for! At the moment though, it has a friend! Another car! Runs and drives nicely, fair few holes in it mind! I'm probably going to have to break it as it needs too much welding and odds and sods..lot of work in it - but we shall see. It's an 1850HL, manual (non-OD). Used to belong to Simon Goldsworthy of PC mags, I need to get in touch with him because apparently he wanted to know what happened to it.... Huzzah!

Nice photos and vids. Must get out and do some vid of our stuff. Don't think you should sell it just yet. After the problems you had with it why not enjoy the fruits of your labour a while?

Many 50,s 60,s etc air filters/boxes had some sor t of tube arrangement. I'm pretty sure it's to do with silencing the intake roar you get. They're also pointing to one side of the rad possibly to find cooler air as well? On some cars (like Minors) you were supposed to turn the filter round in winter so that it would pick up air near the exhaust manifold to aid warm up in cold weather.

Yea - most Sprints don't have them anymore (as they fall off, etc) - but the two 'intakes' used to connect to hoses that ran to just next to the radiator, sucking in cool air.
It is cold air induction effectively - the best solution is a panel filter, as open filters just suck in the hot air from around it, loosing power quite astoundingly!

Looks smart, i take it this is the one you were having trouble MOTing pre CaRS. Good work. Love the BL oil plug thingie and the general tidyness!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
