i was just gunna do an order with them, but after seeing their pricing these days, I'm now thinking twice, as tbh i feel their pricing is starting to take the p1ss a bit. over 70 quid for a pair of the slip-over coilover conversion kits without springs stings a little, but £9.50 postage (+vat on the postage price too) is not a fair price to post something that weighs under a kg.
for £90 delivered, i can pay a few quid more and buy a complete pair of brand new ebay coilovers for a vw of some sort and adapt them to fit, giving me new springs and shocks too.
so, is there anyone offering something similar for less? or should i just return to butchering cheap ebay jobbies? ;D

i priced the open-ended rally design sleeves as well, they run to £67, i can weld my own bits on the end for less than £30!!
ben, compbrake, thats it, i just couldnt remember the name. they're a whole £20 cheaper than rally design for exactly the same thing, at £48 all in for the front kit, unfortunatley they don't do the slip-over rears.but strangely they also want to charge me £12 to post something they freely admit weighs 1.1kg before packaging ?!
alramone, theyd be second best i guess, they're still 12 cheaper then RD.
md, ive had a car that had that done, i guess spring rate can be pretty hit and miss but if you can pick a car thats gunna be roughly the same weight, just over 50 quid for both ends is pretty damn good really. but they worked well on the ones i had. it just had a steel ring welded to the strut for the ally collar to sit on.
ive been perusing the bargain basement s/h stuff on ebay at the mo, nothing that good value so far though. ile have to go through the box of bits ive laready got to see if something can be cobbled up to fit the springs i want to use.........

I'd be interested in other options too as i'm in the same boat with the E28, was planning on using rally design but the prices end up too dear for what you're getting.
Works out the guts of £250 by the time you buy everything needed for all 4 corners, and thats for a set up that is using my standard shocks. No ta, bit hefty for that.

you cant use RD stuff on the front of a e28 anyway, as they're 55mm struts, so you need the larger compbrake kit. rob0r used it on his e32 i believe, which has identical suspension to an e28. my option was going to be weld in some vr6 mk3 golf struts, cut and shut with the the e28 ones. but i sold the struts and the car back to rob!
you can use em on the rear, the rear shocks are only about 48mm OD, i think rob used some konis for an e28 and then coilovered em. my option here was mk1 golf adapted to fit- change the bottom bush and theyll go on, and are about 1.5" shorter. will need the spring rate upping a bit though!

I just bought second hand racelands for £120 (i say second hand, fronts had been fitted for 100 miles and the rears were still in their packet.... rear springs are a bit bouncy so will just be upgrading with a pair from RD... gonna take a look and see if compbrake are cheaper!!

I had a look around before, not because of the price, but because London wasn't an option as an area to live in on their address form!! ... Couldn't find another reliable supplier.

If your main issue is the post and packaging cost I'll be popping to rally design at some point next week. If you can order and pay for stuff for collection I'll happily box it up and send it out to you at cost.

always though GAZ did the best values coil-over bits for quality, price and service I cannot fault them.
A pair of rear shocks for the Arosa (with threaded bodies and adjustable coil-over spring, rather than seperate spring and shock as per original) came to 189 + VAT and were fully dampening and height adjustable.

man i need to do this on my car, i can buy the bravo coilvers and just weld a droplink plate on but there like £550 *gulp* so i need to find an alternative, i like the idea of running golf coilovers and maybe just re-drilling the bottom mounting plate and welding on a droplink plate.

Superb some top info, cheers! Altho i measured the diameter of my front struts using a set of verniers and got 52mm Did you ever work out any of the spring rates needed?
