i'm seriously thinking about giving the passat a decent coat of paint at the moment and the color in my mind is satin purple. i'm really liking the pearl satins from hot rod flatz but think it would be a high price tag. i have somewhere to paint and someone to help me just cant find enough decent satin purple images to see what shade i want could someone photoshop me my motor but in a nice shade also here's what i've got anymore pics would be great ;D and if i could replicate this i'd be very happy

Purple is epic. End of. Could you not get just any old purple paint (nissan midnight purple springs to mind) and hit it with satin lacquer or is there something that stops you from being able to do that that I don't realise?

Just use cellulose with a matting agent. Or paint gloss and flat back with a DA.

Should be able to go in to any car paint supplier and get them to match a colour and for them to add a matting agents. years ago i wanted to paint a camper van and never had any spraying equipment of anywhere to do it so I hand painted it with paint bought from a car paint supplier who matched the colour for me but supplied me with specialist coach paint that can be brushed. Took my time and did a panel a time keeping a wet edge, look good

You'll never get an even finish hitting it with a DA. Save you're money on the Flatz stuff, as said go to a paint supplier and surf the chips books, they'll have loads of shades. Do it in daylight, don't stand under the shop flouro lights. Or go armed with colour codes off something you like. You could get straight gloss, flatting agent, and self-mix. Otherwise you're relying on the shop's mix. This is assuming celly or 2k. Or put down gloss, scotchbrite or lightly sand, and satin clear over. 1k basecoat needs a clearcoat. How you spray it has a big effect too, with satin. Spray thin and dryish, it can go dead flat matt. Wet, and it will be on the glossy side. Not just a case of mix it and hose it on.
Satin purple pearl rocks. Just sayin'.

posting paint technically requires a specialist carrier. Even posting within the UK there are carriage restrictions on paint. Add to this that paint is a liquid and liquids are heavy to post.
Means that posting paint from US is probably a non-starter.
I know when I was looking for some specific engine enamel I think it was I couldn't get it posted from the US as the supplier was told "no" to any air freighting of paint by their shipper.
As said a flatting agent in a regular paint bought here is probably the way forwards

So you're going for the doublepluswin look with the purple interior and exterior then? Are those coffin handles on the back door?
