Another one begins.......
This morning i started fixing the panda, as the wheel bearing was rattling. After taking the assembly off, it was evident that the CV boot was split, so this was replaced. Next came replacing the hub and wheel bearing which was relatively easy, so everything was put back together, tightened up, and the wheel put back on.
As i lay under the car tightening up the last couple of bolts on the anti roll bar, i turned my head to see a steady dripping of water coming from the radiator, oh well, something else to sort ;D
The never ending saga of older car ownership, don't you just love it ;D

i know of a man who on monday had a broken alternator, then ran out of fuel while testing it and then had the throttle cable snap when leaving work. iv just fixed the indicators on the e30 only to find the speedo has stopped working, best get under it and sort the sender plug. I'm afraid it never rains but it pours.

In Land Rover terms its the Zen of maintenance that you have 5 things needing repair at any given point in time.
The art is to keep these fairly small (biggest thing on Ary atm is thought to be the weights in the dizzy sticking, meaning occasionally she'll start running like a dog.

Well I took my Ax Vts to work to replace the radiator, which due to space constraints, requires the engine to be "un-hung". That was well over a month ago, I replaced the radiator, had some welding attended to, before discovering a burst rear cylinder, front pads nearly worn out.... Then when I got it all sorted out, I find the timing belt cover had distorted, so I've had to strip the engine down again... serious mojo loss

So not standard My mk2 caddy van currently had a dickie ignition switch, glow plugs that don't do much glowing any more and a very rumbly wheel bearing. Also radio doesn't work, horn doesn't work and the indicators don't cancel. Wanna swap vans?? Lol

I remember fitting a new fuel tank to a car, and as I was lowering the jack, the rear diff came away from the rubber mounts. Like ... STRAIGHT AFTER!

Doesnt help that the haynes manual was typical haynes..... undo radiator supports, undo hoses, undo sensor, remove radiator with fan assembly, take fan assembly off radiator. Replacement is reversal of removing. reality - try undoing radiator supports but find them rusted on, use brute force and a hammer, manage to get supports off. Find that the lower hose jubilee clip has rusted away so has to be snapped off, top hose comes off relatively easy. the 1 sensor is actually 2 sensors. attempt to remove the radiator with the fan assembly, but the fan assembly is actually attached by 3 brackets that are attached to the bodywork. snap one fan assembly bolt . Manage to take radiator out while leaving fan assembly still attached to the car. Swap over the old sensors expension cap and bleed screw. Put new radiator in place. Lose one of the nuts . Spend next 20 minutes looking for the lost nut . Cant find nut so car needs one in the future. Reattach hoses and supports. Connect sensors. Loosen bleed screws. Fill new radiator with water and coolant. Start engine. Put heater on hot and full power. Close bleed screws. Check for leaks. Put expansion cap back on. Keep engine running and make sure the fan switches on (it does). Take car for drive and check water hasnt gone down (it hasnt). End result - sorted but need new nut and one of the fan assembly brackets, and also find a snapped bolt on the anti roll bar

I'm glad it's not just me. An oil change on my Minor has resulted in one of the chassis legs being welded and the trunnions changed. The trunnion change has now resulted in pretty much every front suspension and front hub component being disassembled.
Still, it beats handing over your non-user-serviceable fully guaranteed econo-box to the dealership and parting with merely cash rather than parting with sweat, blood, tears and oh, cash.
