Can it not be saved? Who's got it now, surely they'd take an offer for it?

emotion's a strange thing mate, everyone reacts differently to it.the son probably thinks its for the best,we are thinking nnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooo i know i keep some dodgy looking stuff purely because my late nan gave it to me,it means a lot to me but my wife thinks its rubbish. what pees me off at the mo' is live old people, they smell of wee,get in my way and generally cause chaos wherever they go.i've tried being nice,i've tried nasty to no avail, now i'm trying to confuse them, even if i have never seen them before i say to them 'you don't remember me do you? ' and then walk off.plan is they will get so confused and disorientated that they can't drive a car.of course this may be why they are so curse word in the first place ;D

Just checked the reg on the DVLA site & it's coming up with 'no details found' How long has it been in the yard? Perhaps it's already been registered as scrap!

That sucks, I don't understand how, if the owner has had it for so long and seemingly couldn't part with it, the first reaction when the old cogger pegs it is to whip it down the scrappie. I could be wrong and the "new owner" tried to punt it off before hand with no takers but I suspect not!

it was a similar situation with this: Old boy dyes nephew was put in charge of sorting the out the will and getting rid of the 2 cars my Toledo and the 360, both are pretty mint. because the nephew liked triumphs he advertised the Toledo for sale but decided that the Volvo wont be worth the hassle so had phone up the scrapies. The volvo now lives in a garage in colchester waiting for a return ;D

How would we know if the owners first reaction is to scrap it? Or have aI missed something?
Perhaps the new owner offered the car to Volvo fans and got a lot of umming and arring and people making insulting offers?

The daughter of the dead bloke has told the yard to scrap it - it has been there no longer than 2days. I will plead with them to save it - I have never seen one about anywhere, so would be a shame to waste such a solid un.
And it's got a full leather/vinyl interior!

Looks like B&B but can't be sure, they had half of it all fenced of temporarily last time i was there and can see some similar fencing stacked up so could be.
Would be such a shame to scrap that, especially if a runner etc, i'm sure they'd be a home for it from someone in the VOC or the like.

My old VW Camper is on an 'L' plate but is tax exempt. It basically depends on how long it was sitting around before it was registered.
I do hope it gets saved but it's quite a common fate of old cars. It's basicaly ignorance on the part of the great british public. The majority don't realise just how much of a following there is of old clunkers. A lot think classic cars just refer to old sports cars and MG's, not the mundane every day stuff aswell.
I saw an immaculate very low mileage mk3 Escort shape Orion down the breakers that was a real time warp car. It was a 1.6 auto top of the range model with everything fitted. You opened the door and you really did get transported back to an early 80's Ford showroom it was that good. Even smeeled new! Same story as the Volvo though and got mercilessly crushed. The yard owner said that it had already been registered as scrap and so could not legaly be saved no matter what was done.
Don't jump on me for this but is there any chance the scrap yard (as with many) is involved with banger racing and se it as a potential race winner? Saying that, my two banger racing mates have got a pair of Volvos they picked up for peanuts for that purpose but decided they were too good to race and are freshening them up instead.
Smiler.
