Alright guys. I though id put up my car, its a mk2 scirocco scala inj. I bought this rocco around two months ago as i felt like a project. My red one already had a lot of work done but not by me, so i wanted something that iv started and done myself. At first it was going go just be an original resto. However money became tight as iv finished uni and when i tried selling it on i had interest but nothing concrete. Iv now decided to keep it and have some fun with it. So to the car. It has been off the road since 2004, not exactly sure why. When i got it the exterior was covered in stone chips and i mean covered, so I'm guessing the prev owner loved getting up peoples arses. The interior was absolutely mint nog a mark at all. Enough talking, heres the pics! .

It was then time to start getting the engine ready for its first turn over in 7 years. I decided to go on a cleaning and spraying spree to make it look beautiful. Then started to clean up the items. Rocker Bracket and bits and the final look, a bit better will do for now.

I then was able to get the engine going after a good service. It fired to life with the help of my red roccos battery, however it suddenly kept shhoting right up to red line. After a search around i found the problem, the throttle body pin at the top wad twisted and so when the accelerator cable was connected it would open it up.
Sorry no pics.

So its lovely and dirty underneath but thankfully near enough no rust and definately no rot. Wooooop. The only bit that has a bit of rust is the front valance. As said before the car was covered in stone chips, so i kind of expected it. Here is how it was before. After first stage of cleaning up Next bit then a lil acid etch to give it a bit of protection for now.

This is how it is looking at the min. Got to sell few parts and wait for my red rocco to be sold before i can go mad with it. Right so the plan at the moment is: debumpered or small bumper like mk1 golfs but not in chrome. Roof gutters to be gone, i want the roof all smooth. Wing arial removed snd small shark fin style put on the roof. Rear spoiler removed and boot lid smoothed, so no badges and maybe not lock. So fit a boot popper. Front is like to do a different style grill, also looking into trying to fit corrado lights. I want to also extend the arches, maybe go to golf style arches instead. Thats the plans so far, they will change a bit most prob whilst its going on.

Looks good!
Just an idea - If your going for smoothness, why don't you go for an arial booster from a Ford Sierra or escort which turns the rear window demister into an arial then you don't have to have the fin.

So got a lil bit more done today. Also think the red rocco will be sold next week, been left a deposit so it means when its gone this project will start moving. So today was about starting the exterior smoothing. I have been smothing the front valance as its now dekitted and may be running no bumper or some mk1 golf small bumpers. Started cleaning off after a lot of grinding and wire wheeling. Got the guy over the road to do some welding just to block up unneeded holes, then small skim of filler. then some acid etch, will be giving it a quick coat in filler primer tomorrow. Also got the arial hole welded up and a small skim And finally the rear badge holes Right so the next plans are to finosh off smoorhing. Next bit to are: Roof gutters, i hate the rubber trim to be honest. All the bump strips to come off Delete the wing indicators.

You deleting the spoiler as well? Also seen one with round headlights like the Mk1 that looked very cool, may go well with the small bumpers you're planning?

Good luck with your plans man, sounds like the way to go with a scirocco. I had planned to put twin round lamps on the one I had, even got the E30 lights to do it but sold the car before that. It's already looking much better with the bodykit removed and the back end is tidying up nicely!

Yeah the spoiler is going. However i may try to fabricate something out of carbon or fiberglass but a lot diff to the standard one. But for now its going to be deleted. I'm tempted by the thought of running no bumpers and have it all smooth but I'm going to rob some golf bumpers off my mate and see how it goes first. I would lovd to go round headlamps and was my first thought. However iv really come to love to rectangle style lights. I may even look to putting corrado lights in but that will happen when i get the funds to buy a corrado vr6 doner :-P

Yikes!!! Fill ups must have been expensive!! If you're welding up holes from lights and trim ect, it's worth splashing some paint on the back of patches to keep what is a very rust free car that way...............ask me how I know ;D

Luckily its been dry when iv left them. I usual would chuck some protection over each patch but couldnt be arsed haha. Luckily i havent filled it up with any petrol, otherwise i think id be crying as it would have either gone everywhere or taken lovely rust into the system. Iv nearly finished the tailgate now but considering installing a boot pooper and getting rid of the lock. I also got the front valance etched and stone chiped. Had to knock out a dent aswell. Next thing is to finish the tailgate. Its got like a thin 5 inch dent on it from prev owner, iv pushed it out with a blunt end through a tiny space but its not finished as i can see it slightly. I'm either going to try push it more somehow or resort to a thin layer of filler. Also I'm going to be looking at rivet on arches, maybe some from rangerbob. Going to get measuring and work out where to smooth them into the body. Thats all folks.

Nah will be going for something different than bbs. Its all i seem to see around and not my style to be honest. I'm not sure on bumpers yet. If i go bumperless i need to get the bum modified to get rid of the recess and give it a good smooth bum. I would go mk1 small bumper but cost so much :-(
