I have recently stuffed a 4k in my KP; The thing is the OEM Aisan carb has a connection to what i am assuming is the idle jet, which operates a solenoid. When given 12 volts the engine idles and rev sweet but when not connected it is pig rough and wont idle. Pic of carb in question Ive currently connected it to the ignition switch so its on when the engine is running is this correct? What is the solenoid for? is it an anti run-on system? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Anti-dieseling solenoid like you said It should be on when the igntion is on, basically stops run on when you turn the engine off, or when you back right off the throttle.

Although if it's disconnected and you pull the choke out for idle it sounds like you've got the wildest cam in there..... get mean backfires on overrun too (I only know this because I forgot to reconnect it the first time I had the intake manifold and carb off).

I have recently stuffed a 4k in my KP; Just a casual engine change, like. It literally is... Undo about 6 bolts, and unplug and remove hoses. Engine and box drops out. Can do the swap in a couple of hours.

I spent about a day and a half, as everything had to be stripped, cleaned and painted. I had to change a number of parts aswell. But if the engine was ready to go in, its an afternoons work!
