The adition of a Stolen section to the forum started me thinking about how this place is a great tool to aid you restore, fix, and modify your retro car, offering advice and explanations.
There is also a mention of alot of other useful info, So, pop up your useful links, suppliers, parts and tools and tips here!!
Try and keep the parts non car specific, within reason.
I will start with:
Copper fuel line - B & Q small bore copper heating pipe (8mm) is identical to that sold by Frosts, and is about half the price!
Rust / paint removal - Screwfix do twisted wirebrushes to go on the angle grinder for about £6 a pop and they will strip it back to bare steel in no time.

B&Q Brick and Patio cleaner in a 15lt drum is cheap and usefull for rust removal. Immerse rusty parts in it and leave to soak for a few hours and it'll dissolve all the rust completely leaving shiny metal. Leave stuff too long and they will completely dissolve ..be warned! I have used it to removed rust from surface rusty NOS panels too. Put it in a garden sprayer and repeated spray the panel at 15-20 minute intervals all day then scrub with a scotchbrite and the rust is completely gone. After using you do need to coat the metal very fast as it will flash rust again in minutes. I WD40 the whole surface the moment it comes out of the acid then wash it off with detergent. This will preserve it bare until it's time to prep it for paint. before... After...

Copper fuel line - B & Q small bore copper heating pipe (8mm) is identical to that sold by Frosts, and is about half the price! would just like to add that it will work on fuel injection pressures. I used it on my injected prefect and am using it on the 02. unfortunatley I have not much info to add to this thread, unless you'd like to know that bmw front brake pads fit maseratis and are £37 instead of £300, or that 2cv clutch centres apparently fit moto-guzzi californias and are a fraction of the cost. sorry.

For engine parts cleaning - mr muscle oven cleaner make sure you strip parts off the engine first to clean them, as Mr Muscle will quite happily damage fuel hoses, oil seals etc....!

Just a thought on the alternative engine cleaners - mind that none of them are caustic as aluminium alloy doesn't like it vey much and sends it porous, so I'm told! This might be an obvious one, but Pound shops are a good source of things like sandpaper or wet and dry - you can usually pick up a pack of sheets for what it would cost for one or two at a hardware store. Some of them sell paint too!
