Wotcha folks, who knows about fraud 2.8's then?
Ive got an ex sierra 4x4 2.8 lump. 4x4 sump removed and a 2wd sump fitted. I also fitted a granada 2.8 carb inlet manifold. When i filled the damn thing with coolant it somehow found its way into number 4 cyl. I assume my manifold is not compatible with the injection heads inlet ports, which is odd as it looks very similar underneath to the removed injection fanni-mold.
Anyone know whats going on? Or what i actually need to do the job?

It should fit... I've put carb manifolds onto ex-injection 2.8s plenty of times (mainly for autofive!) and apart from one bolt being too short (and a pain to find) it goes straight on. Maybe your gasket shifted, or there is a small piece of debris trapped between the heads and the manifold?

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Racers put carb inlet manifolds on injection 2.8's routinely - 'tis the rules as I understand it..

Did you put any sealent on the gasket or just put it on dry? Did you put the gasket the right way round and up the right way? Not teaching you to suck eggs but it is easy done, even twice Cheers, Stu.

UPDATE...................... (for anyone who actually cares) It was not the inlet, see where was getting confused was this, i didnt expect the head gasket on the L/H bank to have a HUGE hole in it. So wit the head gaskets changed and another new inlet gasket, ta da. Watertight. Then i fired it up and the waterpump bearing screams merrily to itself, but thats another story Thanks all for the input.
