Found this well played with Playart Toyota CROWN MKII at a junk shop; $3 for five crappy cars but I really wanted this one. Pulled it apart to clean it up; Windows disentegated unfortunately but I went ahead. Tried a couple styles of wheels but settled in the Advan style from Japanese Nostalgic RX2. Stripped the paint off and cleaned up a couple body lines. It's assembled a bit differently than a hot wheels but I shot the grill and rear panel in "chrome". Then painted the body in a smooth dark red. Looks brighter there^ but it's darker. Assembled loosely to check figment with the axles raised and it's spot on! Once the paint cures I'll stripe it, detail it and screw it together. Not shabby! I repainted one of these a couple of years ago, nowhere near as good as yours though!

The hw one might be an error, as there is something red shifting away the front wheel from its correct position in the wheel house. Just checked my two and they don't have the extra red section, plus the front end is a lot higher on your one

Have bought loads over the last few weeks, probably got a few multiples as well. Interesting to see the difference between the GT Skyline and the normal edition

It's metal flashing, happens sometimes in the wheel wells and window openings. Kinda cool I've seen whole Collections of those but usully more of a novelty finding a mistake.

Been to town again and came home with some color varieties (still not seen a red escort yet, but have quite a few white ones meanwhile): Hot Wheels hasn´t released new versions of its mk1 miata for many years now. But now Mattel has released two 2015 mx5s at the same time, one Hot Wheels, one Matchbox, both red: The hw one might be an error, as there is something red shifting away the front wheel from its correct position in the wheel house. Want all of those, cant wait to find them

What a great turnaround by both of you

No I don't. I photographed and then sold off most of what I had to finance a business, only keeping stuff that I got when I was a kid. Storing all this stuff in their boxes was also a nightmare, it took up half a room! I never set out to collect the newer MB it's just that I had a few contacts in New Mexico who attended all the conventions so for the right price, they got me the top models going, some of them were in excess of £250! I also had connections with ex MB employees from the lesney plant who have all sorts of things in their hoard. It was an expensive hobby to say the least. Best addition of the newer models took a lot of money and messing around to get, relying on 3 people across two continents and if you know your stuff, you'll know what it is: It's a legend and because it was sealed, I never touched it! I got most, if not all of my holy grails but the costs spiraled into thousands. I rarely attend conventions and swapmeets these days but I do miss the thrill of finding that gem in a big box of rubbish! Something to do when I'm retired I guess...
