Did a bit of a tour of the supermarkets last night looking for of all things Vicks Vaporub for Mrs pistonpopper. Anyway, I thought I'd check out the toy cars while I was there. TESCO had no matchbox cars, and haven't had any matchbox cars for ages, they did however have a few hot wheels cars but nothing good, pretty much just fantasy cars, and judging by the state of the packaging they'd been there a good long while, and rummaged through a lot. ASDA had no toy cars at all, not even the cheap crappy ones that even kids look at and don't want. Lastly, Homebargains had 5 pegs of nothing but the hot wheels zoomin camera car there must've been 40 or 50 of them, obviously not a great seller.
So what I am wondering is, are the shops getting deliveries of these toys at all, or am I just getting there too late, and they've all been bought up by other people. Single matchbox cars seem to be especially hard to find. Has anyone else found this?

The Tesco near my work has both Matchbox and Hot Wheels, but the Matchbox cases have far too much of the same thing and who really wants a Sambar pickup or ten?
I think there's that much stuff made in the far east that isn't coming through at the moment, kids Christmases are going to be a bit sparse.

In the last couple of weeks Ive been to 4 different shops that usually stock Hotwheels. One had 1x5pack and one single car, a toaster thing, the other 3 have only had silly fantasy stuff with bright orange wheels. I'm off out tomorrow and have 3 locations within spitting distance# of each other, so I shall see what I find there. Strangley its not really cars I'm looking for ATM, its wheels.
# I wont test the spitting distance thing, it will make my mask all soggy.

Strangley its not really cars I'm looking for ATM, its wheels. I find the cheap cars in ASDA, Homebargains, and Poundland are quite good wheel donors... And you even get two for a pound for the really crappy ones in Poundland. Ofcourse, this is asuming that any of these stores have any toy car stock at all.

Been in a few stores the last few weeks, my usual Tesco has a poor selection and normal does. Occasionally they update the Matchbox selection but the range is really really limited. My other Tesco normally has a much better selection and so it was when i popped in last, picked up a Polizei M3 and something else. It has the bonus of a big Morrisons directly opposite (!!!) and had an absolute field day in there, grabbing a Cobra and 5 others! Local Sainsburys has large stock of premium Hot Wheels but no blue bin oddly enough. Haven't braved any Poundstores recently but always seem to have nothing other than wooden Hot Wheels (great for my youngest Nephew). Will have to try my local Smyths as that has a great selection normally albeit very rarely on offer so expensive

The pickups are treasure hunts. The RS 200 really should have and opening clamshell for the price. But being the 1st release I had to get some.

The Mercedes is beautiful. Really detailed. I love finding a TH! I got the Yellow Submarine the other day, didn't realise it was a 2020 TH model until I got home and looked it up. Will have to try my local Smyths as that has a great selection normally albeit very rarely on offer so expensive I got the Cobra recently, cool little car. I also got the 2020 Ford Galaxie (not the TH edition sadly) and it's huge compared to the average HW size.

How can you tell THs now? I look for rubber tyres but not zeen any for years, so think I'm looking for the wrong thing

I thought TH's always had the 'TH' logo on them somewhere, and were usually a metallic or somehow flashy version of a mainline car. Ive only got one TH, its a gold 'Soo fast'. I don't really like it, but it was cheap. There has been several times ive been tempted to drill it and nick the wheels for something else. Would that be wrong?

How can you tell THs now? I look for rubber tyres but not zeen any for years, so think I'm looking for the wrong thing The easiest way is to look for the Treasure Hunt low production symbol, it's the circular TH flame logo on the body and occasionally on the card as well. The Super Treasure Hunt cars come with Real Rider wheels, the letters TH on the body and Spectraflame paint. This is a good site with lists/photos: www.hwtreasure.com/

Those Mercedes' and RS200s have just become "must-finds"! Haven't got any really nice finds in months now.

Treasure hunts have a symbol on. And under it on the card in silver. If it's a gold symbol its worth 30-60 pounds!!! Super treasure hunt. I've only ever found 5 in 20+years. I collect th's and am slowly working my way back through them. I show them here sometime.
