Day 2... A sleigh. I'm guessing this is probably only available in the advent calendar. Yesterdays Teegray fits it ok... So do pretty much all other 1/64th scale cars. Not sure how I feel about the sleigh to be honest, although I think I would like it a lot more if there were eight reindeers hidden in the calendar too!

Day 3... Torque Screw. I'm wondering if the cars that are in the calendar are the cars that didn't sell so well throughout the year.

Is the paint on that one the pink/purple/blue pearl colour? I saw some sort of modern in that colour painted in it at sandown, under the lights it looked amazing.

Thats the colour, it is quite a nice colour I think. I think that you could buy an MGF in that colour at some point.

Day 4 brings me this trinket of joy. A snow plough which pretty much fits any 1/64 scale car or truck. The thing is though, with it in place it kinda stops the front wheels rotating. But that being said I doubt you could attach it any other way without it becoming model specific.

Received one of these Molotow Liquid chrome pens today after seeing videos on youtube They looked good, but afer seeing it for myself all i can say is go and buy one. Chrome paint has never been so good, or easy. I bought the 1mm and its perfect for detailing anything really. Its not mettalic, its a solid shiney surface. Ive got things to do... Mine arrived today and already put it to work

My Mrs was gonna get me this calendar until she saw the price, I'm glad she didn't now to be fair :/ I've no idea how much Mrs Pistonpopper paid for it, but I'll bet it wasn't cheap. I think the idea my little womenfolk had last year was a better advent calendar than this. Last year they had collected cars throughout the year mostly second hand, but some new. Then wrapped them all up and numbered them. I was quite chuffed with that as they had chosen cars that they liked... I think after seeing how the calendars going this year, next year they may well go back to their original plan. Anyhoo, behind door number 6 was this... Torque Twister. Now as a rule I'm not a huge fan of these made up cars, I just feel that they're not interesting enough. Almost like the designer has looked at a real car that they like, then just tried to make it a little different. Unlike when I was a kid, the made up designs were quite a lot wilder than the realistic designs, that I did quite like. However it has to be said that this one I quite like, I wonder if theres a Torque Twister sticker hiding behind one of those doors.

That sounds like a good idea just having 24 Hotwheels rather than the stickers and plough (although that's kinda cool)
As for the fantasy cars I'm in agreement that some are not that far removed from normal cars, but then a thought occurred to me, if they are that close to real cars then it wouldn't be too difficult to create a replica and in the real size it would be very cool indeed. As is any supersized model.
In case anyone has missed it (think it aired in the summer) there was a programme on about the 50th Anniversary of Hot Wheels covering their history and the special life size builds, well worth a watch. I down loaded it from the History channel on Sky.

Anyone seen the documentary on the History Channel about the Hot Wheels 50th birthday? Really interesting and still available on catch up.

Day 7... Not sure, perhaps some kind of roof mounted jet engine? No idea how it goes, but the best we could come up with is it wraps around the body leaving the jet on top of the roof... I realise that I'm probably not the age group Mattel were aiming at, so I've asked my nine year old, and she said, what's the point in that Dad? I left her with her cars and told her to figure it out, she eventually came up with the same idea I had, wrapping it around the body of a car with the engine on the roof... If anyone knows how it actually should be done, because our way does sort of make the wheels redundant, please let me know. But at this point in time I'm calling this a FAIL!
