Id always assumed that these old Corgi castings were a bit naff, but after stripping the paint off these landrovers it turns out that they arnt helped by being sprayed with one thick dollop of paint, then being fitted with rubbish wheels. Even the numberplate is nicely detailed.  Seeing how decent wheels improved things was helped by finding a car with exactly the same wheelbase  But I'm not going to turn it into a prostreet beast. Still going with the monster truck idea, going to extend the body a touch and see how well i can join it back together. Smooth the lower half of the sides a bit and open the arches up to match other monster trucks. |

the upside down car only works properly if the car is an open wheeled type, otherwise the bodys get in each others way.
Thanks for the offer on the wheels, as its going full on monster jam style ive got the chassis and wheels sorted. What wheels have you got spare?

After some chopping and swapping, i now have these  The long one will be used as the monster truck, the leftovers might get used for something else. The 2 halfs sit nice and straight unsupported so it should be easy enough to araldite them together nice and square, then fill with Milliput. |

Could you also do the same to reduce the rear overhang? I didnt realise the rear overhang of an swb was shorter, i could cut it, but i don't even know what sort of success I'm going to have joining the lwb back together, so ill have to say i don't know yet. |

Spent the weekend walking around Beaulieu autojumble, heres my treasure!  Corgi Triumph TR7.  Corgi Fiat X1/9.  Matchbox 1987 Corvette.  Majorette Simca 1308.  Majorette Simca 1308.  Majorette Simca 1308.  HotWheels pick up.  Matchbox Mustang Cobra Jet.  Just says Mattel on the bottom, but I'm guessing its a late '60's Firebird.  The bonnet flies off, and the top pops open on rear end impact. |

Due to the shortage of decent Hotwheels in the local area I bought one off epay. Another real riders only casting i havnt got, and the picture on it sort of reminded me of me at 8 ish  Then I went nephew-birthday-shopping in the local toy mega shop. Got him the new Lego monster truck, and a Hotwheels, this one because hes mad on superheroes at the moment. The more I look at it the more I'm thinking i already got him it for christmas.   And, shock horror, i found a car I wanted.  And then I saw a car I liked, but it was in a 5 pack. I always promised myself I wouldnt buy a set of five just to get one car. I broke that rule.  Its the chevy I wanted. One of the others will be a good wheel doner, the others are will go some way or other So, with one rule broken these always room to break another rule  Only 2 cars in this one, nothing much else I like. Nephew is going to do well unless there is anything anyone needs for their collection. I wonder how long it will be before I get a 20 pack   |
