£150 with 3 months t+t use it for the 3 months its legal, then have fun smashing it up and using the engine for the silver one ;D ;D ;D took me to southampton and back last night without any quibbles at all doing an undisclosed speed above 69mph all the way there and back, a lot less hassle free than the beige one (although no where near as fun or attention seeking)

As long as you promise to smash it up after taking the engine out, and then post up pictures, we'll let you off!

Maybe you're right. This sort of mondeo is mostly driven untaxed & uninsured by methodone users / alcoholics / very unpleasant persons from the dregs of society... round our way at least! Oft to be spotted with 'cardboard' or 'shaving foam' numberplates so they don't gotta pay for their petrol.
If I see a mk1 mondeo I normally try to take a wide berth, just in case like! ;D

^ ROFLCOPTER, LOLLERCOASTER etc. ^ I just don't 'get' it when folk do that. Do they actually look out of the window and think: 'Dang! My car looks HOT!!!

Yikes! Personally I think NATO green applied with a roller would look best. Cheap hacks are great, bought something similar myself a couple of months back for the same amount, but 8 months' ticket and 3 months' tax and diesel... As collected, covered in cowsh*t and the guy wonders why it only made the reserve ;D Bought this crate for my brother last month as well, 6 months' MOT, cambelt done last year, full leather and drives like a dream...£112! Disposable motoring FTW!

When you meet them, are you allowed to slap some sense back into them?
Preferably with a big stick with rusty nails poking out of it.

Mongdeos are suffering what happened to the Sierra (and still does), and the Cortina. 'Bag a shiiiite!' Although the tina and sierra are let off cos they are retro and RWD whereas the mongdeo isn't. However, geta neatie Mongdeo and i recon it would be some cheap reliable motoring. and the mk1's have dated worse than a late Sapph IMO.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

hey! We've got a mongdeo. i mean Mondeo. they're really not that bad!
Basically Claire already owned it when we met (or rather hubby did.... but he left without taking the V5, silly man). It's not worth enough to flog, it's a late mk1 with some Ford 17" alloys on, it's done 180k without whinging so it just provides useful family transport. It's not a bad looking car, it's reasonably quick, the dog fits in the boot and it's one of the only cars i've ever driven where the seat goes back further than i need it to.
plus, the amount of them in the scrappy over the road is scary... soon they'll be rare, i swear. i went looking for a metallic green mk1 door and they had four just in that colour, plus another 12 or so in other shades.
edit - but I will go and get a photo of the 1.6 Auto in the carpark around the corner in a bit. it's got a full bodykit, still in primer, twin 5" pipes, stock wheels, bonnet scoop.

I reckon a Mondeo done in a Salt Flat style would work, I think the shape lends itself to that treatment. The price does too.

Wish I'd had a digital camera when I worked in Newmarket, a local bloke had a slammed satin black estate on 15" steelies with Moon discs on. Looked quality! And that was five years ago, before they were properly cheap! Last I heard it was being painted yellow, but I don't think it ever resurfaced.
