Hi guys, Done a deal with my Jetta today involving a Skoda Felicia pickup. At the minute it's standard, so riding high. I want it lower, but it will be a working vehicle so I need it to be able to handle the same weight it can on the standard springs. How can I go about this? My thoughts are, getting lowering springs and putting those blocks inbetween the rears to stop it doing down under load, but I'm not sure how/if it would work. I know Felicia springs fit up front but the rears need to be Mk4 Golf items, so finding the required springs is either going to be a pain, or involve buying two sets. I have seen on eBay though a set specificaly for the pickup, but I have my doubts. Any thought would be appreciated

Unless I put them on the bonnet as well, it'd just be speedboating along.

Seriously though, I am not 100% with the feli trucks. Do they run the same rear springs as the estates, or are they totally vag based at the back?

As far as I can make out, they are totally different to all of the Skoda range. Mk4 Golfs are a very close match, but still not 100% there.

Id measure the springs and see if they are close to anything from a big van. (ala the sierra / transit spring swaps performed by RobinXR4i and Ryan) need to be cut to length but make the rear mega stiff. Not sure what size springs they are on felis though. Rich may know more as he has lowered his recently.

I'm pretty sure PhilJ (Jackson Tuning) on club Polo will do fronts and rears separately, and can get hold of stuff for most cars.

Take a trip over to the caddy forum and they'll advise what you need and where to get it from. What you'll also have to look at is the rear brake bias adjustor as the lower the back goes, the easier it will be to lock the rears up and do a Butterz You should be able to get the rear hub drop plates and lower the rear 80mm on stock springs and not effect the brake bias.

Cheers guys, I'll get looking I found out last night by searching on here that the pickup I'm buying was owned by someone on this forum about a year ago. Their advert says that some lowering springs were included with the sale so I'll have to have a see. It definatly isn't lowered. craig, cheers for that. I'd wondered how Butterz put his on his roof. I know there was a thread but can't find it.

Ebay has lowering kits for the Felicia truck. Also, up front Seat Ibiza 6L 2002 on will fit, and the rears should also be a close enough match to fit. I would have bought a set by now but I have spent all my money on a truckman top and an AAZ TD engine!

Cheers Rich.
I'd seen the spring kits on eBay. My thoughts were to get a set and get a pair of spring assisters to go inbetween the coils and that would be OK for carrying a decent weight.
Does the AAZ slide straight in or is there fettling needed?

AAZ yet (see what I did there? ;D ) I'm not sure how easy it's going to be. It looks fairly straightforward, as the wastegate is boost and vacuum controlled. I hope to be doing just after the gathering so will report how it goes on my pickup thread. In regards to load carrying, the spring assisters may work, but they i do wonder if they also may leave your unladen height a little higher than desired. One set doesn't tend to do much height wise on stock springs (not tried them on the skud) but I've never tried them on lowering springs.

Also aught to add that I meant to say seat Ibiza 6L 2002 onwards COILOVERS should fit, they use the correct diameter clamp strut and mk4 golf style rears. £190 or so bags you these! But be warned, lowest point on the AEF is the sump plug and the gearbox!
