You know how it is, you fancy a particular motor and one day you wake up and find they're all gone to the great scrapyard in the sky. So what are the "Buy now while stocks last" motors of the moment? I have no intention right now of buying any of them but I'd nominate the Ford Sierra, the Austin Montego, the Rover 800, the Issigonis Mini, the Citroen BX and the rear engined VW Transporter among those of the moment.
What are you going to be kicking yourself you didnt buy now while you had the chance?

Definately the sierra, they're going the same way as the Escort, all going towards kit cars.

I have a Sierra in stock, ripe for cruising or making a monster out of. will trade you a BX! This is my problem, too busy grabbing 'rare' cars of tomorrow, not grabbing the ones i originally wanted. the really old stuff i like is reasonable though, so thats next then...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I was a gnat's from buying a superb 1600 Sport for £500. Plus was also offered a RWD Corolla for £800... then went and bought a Midget 1500 for £2000 instead. curse word.

I've kind of wondered this about my B12 Sunny Estate. It's not all that old at present (87) and thus not of any great interest but they are already quite rare and mine is almost completely rust free. Sometimes I think I should just stash it away in the shed for the next ten years. I can't help but think how, ten years ago, if I'd have done the same with a car that was at that time of a similar age, I'd now have a rust free mid 70's Datsun ;D
I also can't help but feel it would be wise for me to hunt down a mint example of some 80's performance Nissan like a Sunny ZX or Bluebird Turbo and stash it away. They are dissapearing fast!

I've told this story on here before but about 15 years ago I noticed that Renault 16s were quite cool and you didn't see many about. Always keen to be 'different' I thought I'd see how easy it would be to find one and checked the Loot (the best place to find old cars until the advent of the 'net) where there were three for sale, so I assumed that there was no rush to snap one up. They were the last 16s I ever saw for sale outside of the classic world. I learnt my lesson though and when I had similar thoughts about Skoda S110Rs I bought one a soon as an ad appeared...and the next one too!

MK1 Fiat Uno's, Alfa 33 and Peugeot 305's are a bit thin on the ground these days.
I think asides from my usual J-car fetish, I'd like to wrap up a SuperCinq Renault and Volvo 240 Estate...and the rest.....

Of course, I'd forgotten the Renault 5!
Where are they all going, it only seems like yesterday you could still buy the van!

All gone now, you're too late:) Ah right helps if I read the opening post Ancient Austins are all dead cheap. Pickings are getting slim but probably the only classic cars you can still get for peanuts.

I'd love an early BX to put in my barn, or an early Nova saloon (Y or A reg), also an A or possibly B reg Orion would be very welcome to join the gang. Also of course my Passat fetsih is still simmering away in the background.

Yep, i remember it. Opera meets the Robotic production line ( must have been late 70s) but didnt meet the anti rust treatment section. I always liked these cars, so different to the norm.

my mum nearly traded her Chrysler Sunbeam (see - there's one you don't see any more, in fact anything with the Chrysler or Talbot badge!) for a secondhand Strada but decided it was ugly and went for a new Polo instead. This would have been 1985 and there were two stradas at the local tat dealer.
