'cos this is getting ridiculous - I have run out of room and onto relations driveways!
Scirocco in the garage was £50 Infamous Audi Quattro was -generously cheap- Mk2 Golf 16v was £30 - admitedly unroadworthy but price included delivery... Audi 80 16v dropped off at the house on Friday for nothing! Still MOT'ed and taxed (though have to give tax back)
Anybody else finding people are virtually giving away cars, even some quite interesting, if there is the slightest little thing wrong with them?
I am finding it hard to say no... I am weak...

'79 MG Midget 1500 - Still patiently awaiting attention '02 Vauxhall Astra 1.8 Elegance(!) - Better than you might think '03 Mazda MX5 - All new and shiny looking (thanks to Antony at Rust Republic) '09 Renault Clio - Needs to go.

It is difficult. I'm trying to lighten the load, cars cost money, time, stress too s times people want rid.
Ideally be nice to do em all up, how realistic is that though?!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I know! I'm a sucker for them. But recently I've had to be strict with myself as my storage space has seriously diminished of late

Yeah I was Given a carb Merc 190 2.0 for nothing, passed its MOT today after requiring a little fuse replacement and wire wiggling.....I tend to get these freebies off family friends who know I collect and drive tat, so more often than not I cannot refuse - storage permitting.
Sometimes like you guys I have to say no, quite simply as they may not be cost/time effective. Still kicking myself for refusing a clean low mileage MK1 Jetta though....

I get offered a few but most are newer cars I'm not really interested in - eg the last couple of months - 1998 Rover 414i in good nick, but with snapped cambelt; '93 Mondeo TD estate with short MOT; '96 Metro with no MOT. The disappointing thing is the cars I've had to refuse due to lack of time and space. These include (in the last fortnight) a 1992 Sapphire 2.0GLSi, taxed and in good nick for £40 - my little bro really wanted it but we couldn't get up to Kings Lynn quick enough so it got weighed in; and a Sierra-shape P100, with 2.9 V6, XR4x4 loom, front crossmember, driveshafts etc etc, like a big jigsaw puzzle....it was free and again the whole lot got weighed in. Having said that I'm currently using a cheap Corsa 1.2 with 15" alloys, lowered suspension, blacked out windows, big exhaust and an "electronic dump valve", which was a bargain.... You'll be relieved to hear I'm de-Barrying it for the father-in-law! ;D

the best/worst car i ever owned was given to me for free , twas a 82 passat diesal estate in doom blue , bottom of the doors had tank tape across them , the rear quarter pannels weren't atached at the bottom , had no t&t a change of wheels a wire brushing and greasing of the brakepipes and 2 bulbs changed and the old dear sailed through the mot , sold it to repace it with a renult 11 turbo (£150 no t&t), both gone to the great scrapheap in the sky now how i miss them both
