Guys The fuel pump has finally died on Keith's Benz and he has just sent me a shocking photo through because he needs confirmation of the location of the fuel pump. The photo should be turned 90o clockwise but Paint is having a hissy fit, so I just circled the most likely contender instead. The big problem is that GS&F have give him a part that is "correct" according to their catalog but that doesn't match anything he can see under the car. Any help muchly appreciated. Can anyone confirm or deny which blurry blob is the fuel pump on a W123??

I could never do those "Magic Eye" pictures... ;D What engine is it? Not that familiar with the W123 but I know the 200 has a mechanical FP. That looks to be a leccy one. Wow. Scything insight from BenzBoy there.... ;D Sorry I can't be of more help... Tonycocacola might know

It's a 230E and I can confirm it is electrical (if that is in fact the fuel pump of course)
The confusion is that nothing on the car seems to match what GS&F seem to think should be on there!!!
Tell me about the magic eye piccy, took me a while to work out WTF it was!!
And no worries, any help is good help as far as I'm concerned!

The GSF in Hitchin (I'm assuming that's where he went) is rubbish. There's a good 'traditional' parts place in Nightingale road (Morgans?) and another in Strathmore avenue where a better quality of sales assitant may be found..... Not much help on stating what you actually need, but useful local knowledge.

Oooh very handy. Muchos thanks Mr Weasel san And yes, it was the GS&F in Hitchin - he should have realised when he walked into the shop via swinging saloon doors really

I find a good technique to use with GSF is the following.
1) go and buy the bits you want. 2) Come out of the shop, then go back in and tell the man the parts do not fit. 3) He will then get his parts catalogues and faff about a bit before giving you another set of parts. 4) Take the SECOND set of parts home and fit them.
This alleviates 90% of incorrectly supplied parts from these shops.
