	Esprit gearbox has lost 2nd gear synchro and I need to fix it. I have found a manual for the box, Renault UN-1, but it requires a hydraulic press to get the synchro hub off the layshaft. Will I get away with gear pullers made from bodged bits of steel and threaded bar? Or will I definately need to find a press? Thanks Rich

	you will need a press to get them back on, it will be soemthing daft like a few tonnes of pressure to get it on. If you strip it yourself, you could get an engineering firm to press stuff back on then you can rebuild it, will still save a fortune

	OK ta that was my thinking, the renault box splits down the middle so th shafts are easy to remove:
