started to take the missus MK3 capri front struts apart to convert to coilovers. they are 2ltr ones we fitted so we could have discs onto her mk1 escort a while back.
problem is I'm normally a dubber so play with torsion bars not struts!
taken it all apart and finally got the locking collar off the strut which i thought would release the insert but instead oil poured out... i thought they were the insert type but apparently not.
question is what do i refill it with when I'm done, just standard hydralic fluid?
secondly, can i weld it with out damaging the gubbins inside the strut body?
thirdly, the coil over conversion bits seem to be almost the same size as the strut casing, are they normally an uber tight fit or have i got another issuse to address?
thanks for any pointers
