Today while selling some scrap at my local yard (smiths of Bloxham). While having my usual wonder to make sure there the was no rare pars I could buy to sell with Ebay[ and scene tax to fund my Capri project I noticed quite alot of retro cool that had been sent that way. Passably due to the high of scrap coupled with ever one being poorer than before. I seemed like people were cashing in the projects that they are never going to get round too.. Below pictures seemed quite together corner beetles most of them banana shaped BMW 2500 fiat 130 inside fiat 130 fiat 130 bay capri that donated part of the bulk head and the spoiler to project capri Zetec All together as a group "princess Anne had one of them" My range rover reason 134 why I scraped it genuine ford colour acording to mate going to look into this but I do have a memory of it being true

fiat 130 I don't know much about 130s but I think a lot of them left the factory in this sort of shape. A boy I was at Uni with, an older bloke, had one new and said the door bottoms were knackered in two years. He did leave it parked at the port while he was offshore though.

It never ceases to amaze me the state of that place, I guess it's historical standing that counts. I love old man Smiths number plate too, 1 SOB.
Might need some Beetle bits actually... Any excuse for a trip.

Can't quite tell from this angle, but is that a 104Z? The headlights suggest otherwise but if it is, this makes me extra and more than a little ... <sigh...>

I forgot to post this the other week when I was over there, looks like the white MG has descended from the front, out back in to the yard. Kind of late for an MG to be registered huh? It's not an LE or anything special... I guess it was just lying around a dealership waiting for some white love Date of Liability 01 03 2002 Date of First Registration 21 03 1983 Year of Manufacture 1983 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1798CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour WHITE Didn't even make 20yrs on the road...

Think the mk 2 transit is gone Most of the lads that worked there had SOB plates at one point but I think less now as it made them an easy tug for the old bill. I think the pug was also badged as the talbot samba with different trim and grill maybe its a mismatch of the two. talking of late regs what does anyone make of this The xr3i cabby was a limited edition available in Amalfi blue or Amethyst Pink according too google

That Minor is one of several things...
Imported in 1982 from abroad.
Logbook was lost in the DVLA sweep up of the old records and issued with an incorrect year plate when it was put back on the road in 1982
or
more likely with the colour and the fact its a Morris Minor Traveller
It is an ex-MOD car. The Ministry of Defence used Morris Travellers as all sorts of things from pool cars to internal mail haulers. When they were done with them they were sold off at auction, there used to be one at Bunny Hill near here, and as the MOD ran them on military plates they got the same year plate as their "de-mob" was until DVLA changed to age related plates in the mid 80s or so. They were still selling off ex-MOD Morris Minors until about 1988 or 1989.
Military ones have a military commission number under the bonnet as well as VIN and so forth

Guz, I have to go and see if the rear torsion bar caps are any good on that thing... So I will be there with tools if you want the bumpers. That is of course if they're as good as they look. I can then take them to the Gathering in a couple of weeks if that's any good. If you want them, let me know a top whack price you'll pay and what condition is acceptable. If they're any good, I'll ask old man Smith, providing he's having a good day we may be in luck
