Gents,
Just thinking of alittle project to see me through the winter and while i'm thinking about it, i thought i'd open it to the floor for some ideas. Looking around on the web, i can't see many custom or mod'ed Jag xj's, so ideas are abit light.
Want to stick with the series 3 as my father had one and remind's me of days gone by. But i would like to do something abit different under the bonnet, so any ideas?
Was thinking of going down the japanese route maybe, maybe turbo?
look forward to your feedback, many thanks

I wonder if a 1UZ-FE out of a Lexus LS-400 would fit...

Jag X300 motor - XJR6 (supercharged six) with a manual box?
More powers, more economy, not *too* difficult to do.

At least one non turbo 7M has been done succesfully, so I'm guessing the 7M-GTE would go in easily. The bits are available to mate the Supra gearbox to the Jaguar as well.
Me, I'm doing an XJR6 engine with 5 speed manual into a Series 1 at the moment, which apart from my self imposed limits (I will use only off the shelf Jag bits) has been a ludicrously easy swap.
Any of the AJ6/ AJ16 family are a good fit and a decent power increase. Just make sure to throw the archaic 3 speed auto box out as its useless and robs any power you can make.
My own Series 3 will be getting upgunned once I've finished getting the Series 1 running.
Regards,
Rich

Merc 300 Turbo diesel engine - bottom end on the turbo models are reputedly good for 400Bhp+, and they come with a bosch P-pump as standard (read: OODLES OF POWAAAA!!!)
In case you're not convinced.. here's a vid of what a P-pump is capable of

Again many thanks for your replys Beacham put the V8 into the Mk2, so there's no reason it shouldn't fit into a series 3. It was one of my options for the series 1 but no matter how I try I can't bring myself to like a V8. My series 3's future is undecided! I am looking at fitting an AJ16, with the ZF 4HP22 gearbox and a fairly high back axle as I want it to be a good long distance cruiser. The series 1 is supercharged and manual with a low ratio back axle as I want it to be a bit of a hooligan. ;D
