	Hi all I need to get the Cavalier running good, at the moment its doing my head in, I've fiddled and played with the settings, but I cant get it right.. I've now got it up set up so it'll tickover and run, but the revs are far to high, however, no matter where I set them as soon as I slow down or come to a stop she stalls.. Ok, fires back up again but very veyr annoying (and dangeorus as she's an auto) So I'm thinking its going to be time to strip down and rebuild but I havent a clue where to start, so going to be a long and intersting experience for me, but I guess I'm not going to learn any other way.. So first off, could someone please help me ID the carb?? there are no marking on it at all... from one of the nuts on top it looks like there was a tab. but appears to be broken off, the number ends 063 A anyway, here are some pictures if it helps i193.photobucket.com/albums/z204/eeydubore/carb/I MG_9757.jpg[/IMG] Any help getting me underway would be a great start.. thanks Steve

	Looks like I'm starting to find some more info out So may have answered my own question It looks like the Solex carb fitted to 1.6 Cavaliers of this time was the Solex 32 DIDTA

	possibly be worth ringing howard at collectors car parts mate - see if he has a rebuild kit?? - no other suggestions sorry!

	Sorry guys, I'm going to ask a few question whilst my research fires up a few questions too.. in this pic I've highlighted this screw/bolt Reading up this appears to be the Idle air jet if i go to adjust this it is very loose, it will also turn one way and lock - fully tightened, but as soon as adjust it doesnt stay where I leave it - any ideas if it should be sprung loaded or should it be stiff so would stay in position??

	What are those 2 socking grat screw holes in the adaptor beneath the carb? If they go through to the manifold - and are effectively open , you'll never get it running right. Screw a bolt into both - it may stop an enormous air leak.

	Steve, had the same problem with mine, stalling a junctions and tick over all over the place. Tried every possible thing to do with the carb(got a Zenith on mine, so not quite the same as yours) but there is a vacuum pipe from the top of the gearbox to the inlet manifold, and it had a small spilt in it! Worth checking that?

	Cheers Chris.. I'll see what i can see - (which for a novice migth not be much)lol Nigel I've been digging about and found a section from a haynes manual - it appears nothing goes in them 2 holes - and they do look blocked, sadly i have nothing with the same thread size to try Also, was pointed in the direction of eurocarb - turns out they are a 5 minute walk from my work, so have asked them to order in a rebuild kit but they have no idea on how to actually do it They have recomended the best replacement would be a Weber DGAV which i'm sure would be a great replacement but then i need a new air filter and suddlent looking at over £300 which at the mo is not going to happen So I'll await the rebuild kit and tackle it - any pointers or help would be great And if anyone does know weather that screw that stay where it is if adjusted then that'd be good too thanks
