Sure loads of you have come across this issue:
If I personally scrap a car (ie sell some bits and take the remainder down to the local scrappy in bite-size chunks after an appointment with Mr Grinder), how do I then tell the DVLA that it's scrapped so that I don't have to SORN a non-existant car for ever onwards?
It used to be easy in the old days, as I could just tick the relevant 'scrapped' box on the V5. But that box isn't there any longer...

Write to them explaining you cut it up and scrapped the pieces, then send them the V5 when they ask for it.
It's a little bit more involved than just ticking the "scrapped" box, but you wouldn't believe the number of times people would send back the book as scrap when the car was in fact still whole.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

on a similar note, what if I've just scrapped a shell, forgot to take the logbook, and the yard said 'just fill it in as scrapped, or bring it down later' (I know the yard) - but now I can't find the frigging 'book!
- do I have to reapply for a new v5c, just to scrap it??
gah!

Almost on the road: b11 sunny breadvan, e36 tds, 325i skidcar,
nearly there: ford f250 tathauler, suzuki alto, u11 bluey
not for a while: ford pop, 32 rails,
not in this lifetime: ruby, '29 hillman

That all sounds remarkably logical - are you sure it's the DVLA we're talking about?
