Due to constant complaints that the receipts fade due to being printed on thermal paper, you will no longer need a receipt to have Halfords tools replaced under a lifetime warranty.
Thought it might be of interest if you have any broken bits kicking around.

Just to add they will not be able to swap there and then they will order a new part and have it delivered to your house.

I think a lot of branches had already recognised this problem as I cant remember ever needing a receipt!

It's depended on the branch.. I think previously you'll have very often got a 'we'll do it on this occasion.. ' sort of responses. Thanks for letting us know, Matt

Never had any problems here either. but thanks for the info.
You have reminded me I have a couple broken screwdriver bits and a UJ.
What's the deal with ratchet mechs? I have a couple that slip, due to overloading. It's never something I have looked into before though as a mate used to work on parts and sorted me out but he is now on cycles and I don't want to have him running round after me.
Is it static parts only that are covered?

Is the change in rachet rule recent as they have replaced mine no questions asked in the past.

Is the change in rachet rule recent as they have replaced mine no questions asked in the past. You got lucky then as the warranty has never covered mechanical components. However, as said above, you can buy a ratchet repair kit - was about 8 quid when I bought one a couple of years back. I have also had the "we'll change it on this occasion" comment from the Halfords manager, so it is nice to see this is now official policy. Very good quality tools for the money though, even without the guarantee.

I've never had any real poblems swapping mine over, i even got given a few i was missing from an incomplete set they had lying around. Rachet mechs are not covered, but one of the screws fell out of mine and they replaced the whole thing foc. I broke a couple of extentions but no other real failures.
I was told they are made by britool for halfords so the quality should be good and it is imo.
