Hi guys,
Quick question. I brought a Scirocco off here the other week to get back on the road.
It was having some trouble with the gearbox. It runs and moves, but if you let it tick over in neutral, there is a grinding noise from the gearbox. Goes as soon as you put your foot down.
It'll go forwards and backwards, but when you go backwards, about every 8ft, there will be a bang and the car will jolt like you've hit something, but it'll carry on fine.
I'm thinking it's just the thrust bearing that's dead, which I'm hoping as it's a fairly simple thing to fix. Worst case, I do have a spare gearbox. Is my thinking right or could there be something else?
