I am after some rubber for fitting the windows back into my A35, but they are quite alot of money if you buy them from Austin spares suppliers. Is there another, cheaper and more readily available rubber trim which would fit and do the same job, type of stuff sold by the metre? It would help if I knew the cross section, but my rubber was perished back when I cut it off and I have none left over for reference.

Thanks guys, I think I have found a suitable style trim. So is there technically more than one style/cross section of trim which I can use for an A35? Is it possible to have a trim which is too 'thick' and means the glass can't fit?

I've used this before but nobody else seems to want to use them, even though it's a fraction of the price.

Be careful if using the Baines ones, they supply pretty much all of the ones for my car and from what I've been told they tend to perish after a couple of years. They're also not that great at recognising when different thickness screens were used in the same car, might not apply to an A35, but worth noting in case. I've had East Kent recommended to me before.

TBH I haven't used any of Baines stuff before but am going to order some rubber filler strip for windows as I have heard theirs is only about 20p a metre, compared to a quid+ everywhere else.

They're a bit hit and miss. I know of two all weather cars that had both seals go after 6 months, another lasted a year and another is still as new 2 years on... Didn't realise it was that much cheaper though! Might as well try it in that case.

I paid 2.50 for a windscreen seal against £40+ on Rimmer's genuine stuff. In this case, it was a matter of replacing a completely perished seal with a working one, although I'll probably get round to getting a OE one if it does go - 2.50 isn't a lot of money.

The Rimmers ones are from Baines (Dolly ones at least).
