Well I went and saw it yesterday, did a deal and bought it The heartbreaking this is the bloke who delivered it to the yard originally, didnt know how to strap a car on to a trailer Up to the point he slowed to turn into the yard, the front was straight and in the same shape as the rest of it Once it had ridden up over the winch it looked like this Now the original Idea was to Resore it in the Retro tradition.... big offset fat wheels and a healthy beating with the stick and give it to Janey ;D but I think its a bit too far gone for that.... I may as well buy a half decent one and do that in less time But I am unsure.... Its been "Restored" at some point in the past though not very well, and as you will see there is a liberal "Skim " of filler in a few places.... Not sure whether to strip it and sell for parts, to get it started, cleaned up so you can see whats what and get it on the BAY? or strip it and restore it as originally planned ? Will know more once TCS has got it up to Warks tomorrow and I can jet wash it and have a look on Monday Anyway, piccies for you, feel free to add inspiring suitably retro photoshops or piccies as you see fit ;D

People have of course rescued and restored worse. But rather you than me!
Depends on price/availablity of panels etc I suppose?

Ouch I hope the guy who "delivered" it said sorry You would be a star if you got it restored, but if you decide to break it I may be interested in some bits, does it have rear discs?

That's no easy resto!
I say bosh it on the 'bay, and if you don't get the right money (£500?) then break it...a RWD Twink drivetrain and a load of specialist 124 bits should see you making some profit.

If you thought it was restoprable before the front end damage than its still restorable, that front end work doesn;t add much to the project, you'd dump the front bumper anyway, right?
It looks like plenty of work, but do Smith & Deakin or anyone do fibre glass front wings for it?
Got running, cleaned up and suitably photgraphed it should sell easy on eBay

Got running, cleaned up and suitably photgraphed it should sell easy on eBay Need to check with smith and deakin about wings, I have found a place in europe that does Glass/carbon Bonetts. boot lids and doors so that would be most of the panelwork taken care of Wings would be good on the front and a set of arches for the rear It was never meant to be a 100 point restoration, more a sound base with Glass wings/panels to have some fun in.... Not worried about originality as much as the overall concept Whats slightly worrying is theres another one on the bay with a 2 litre engine currently sitting at £40 odd quid But I agree with you, running with a good clean up and some nice photos would sell it easily and turn a profit ;D

I really like these, even though I'm not mad keen on the way they drive, and the driving position itself. You are the man for the job though, and the treatment you're talking about would look spesh. Some Gotti split rims and the carbon workout would be sweet, but it is a lot of work. I'd pass it on myself. But then I have got a track record of selling all the best cars I've ever owned without doing a spud to them

I'm interested in the boot rack!!!! if its for sale and cheap that is...
i say strip it to a rolling shell, then decide if you can be botherd to weld it up, hard to tell how far the rot has spread until you start poking about, but i bet its pretty crusty in places you didnt know existed on it! and if its already been restored once it could be full of patchs already!

Make me an offer on the rack then I think structurally its not too bad its the cosmetics that are bad most of which is bolt on We`ll clean it up and get it running, then see whats what ;D I`ll see my money back breaking it but if the Tub is sound then I might look at a Glass body set for it...... priced up most of it and I`m looking at about 1000 euros without doors for glass panels Which I didnt think was too bad Thats Bonnet, boot, front wings, set of Arches on the rear wings, job done ;D...... if only it were that simple Will know more once I get stuck into cleaning it Bets on engine starting tonight.... ;D Oil looks good ( and clean) Gearbox selects all gears apparently... Its done 55,000 miles so should be ok Was thinking the driveline would go very nicely in the Kadett ;D ;D

Well it doesnt clean up too bad at all, and the closer you look araound it the better it seems, certainly structurally Looks like the worst thing is really the shonky paintwork and loads of Hi-build primer underneath it Floors are sound as are the boot and under bonnet, one patch to put in the rear footwell where someone has jacked it up in the wrong place OS door has had a Bottom let in to it and then filled quite heavily, front wings have a fair covering of filler too I did get a load of pics which I`ll upload tomorrow, but hopefully get it running tomorrow, then its a case of getting it MOTed ;D Seriously its that sound underneath ;D I reckon it had a half decent rebuild and then they skimped on the final body work and just blew it over So we will see what the nice MOT man has to say before deciding what to do with it ;D
