unusual peice of J tin for grabs

Four wheel drive is, by and large, a good thing. In off roaders it's often switched on all the time, to haul you out of muddy ruts. In sports cars it only works when you need it, to improve grip in slippery corners. But what about the Subaru XT? Plainly this wasn't an off-roader but neither, despite the ever-so-pointy coupe styling, was it really a sports car. So what sort of four wheel drive system would it have? Permanant? Part-time? or one that worked when you switched on the windscreen wipers? Sadly it was the third one. There was more mentalness in the steering wheel - which was bizarrely asymmetrical, with an L-shaped middle - and the gear stick - which was plainly meant to look like a jet fighter's joystick though it actually resembled a big cock. But nothing, not even getting Magnus Pike to travel everywhere with you in the back seat, could match the strangeness of that four-wheel drive arrangement which, just to remind you, was linked to the windscreen wipers. Ummm....
